In June of 2009 I met Brenda Salvator at the Chief City Runs With the Dogs Walldog meet in Pontiac, IL (her hometown). She and her daughter Jenna were helping Sonny Franks paint his Coca-Cola mural across the street from the Rodino Square project I was project leader on. As a result of stormy weather on Saturday night I found myself visiting with Walldog friends in the big tent instead of working all night. Brenda and Jenna were also visiting in the tent that evening and we had the chance to chat for the first time during the event.
The following day we spent a bit more time hanging out together and hugged each other goodbye as I headed back home. In the following weeks Brenda and I started emailing back and forth and started talking on the phone.....for hours! Then came our first date and shortly after that I invited her and Jenna to my daughter's wedding. We both felt like we had found a long lost connection that goes beyond words. It continues to grow stronger each passing day.
Over the past couple of years we have attended a couple of Walldog events and both feel like the people at these events are like family to us. For this reason and many others, we decided to get married at the next Walldog event taking place this summer in Plymouth, WI.
So, we would like to invite you to join us in celebrating our marriage on June 25, 2011 at the Walldogs Rock the Cheese Capital event in Plymouth, WI.
We are planning on getting married in the large tent which will be set up for the duration of the Walldog meet. Provided the weather cooperates, that is. The ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 pm on Saturday evening to give the painters all day to wrap up their murals. Directly after the ceremony we will head down the road to the Amore Banquet Hall for some cake, snacks, drinks, and dancing! This is going to be a casual wedding so you are welcome to come as you are.
If you have never been to a Walldog meet, this would be a great one to attend. 20 mural projects and the first ever Walldog Wedding. Sign up and come help us celebrate.....hope to see you there.

The whole thing is awesome. I am so happy for you and Brenda, Dale. It will be our honor to attend this wedding. The first walldog wedding ... very cool ... very, very cool.
The fact that you're marryin' a girl from our hometown is the best!!!!

Brenda was one of my art students when I taught a PTHS. She called me before the Pontiac meet, wondering whether I thought she should get involved. I had to convice Brenda that she would be very sorry if she did not only attend but PARTICIPATE at the meet. She was worried that she didn't really know anyone and wouldn't fit in. I assured her she would have a blast and would feel right at home. That is one of the great things about a walldog meet. The way the dogs welcome people to participate, learn and enjoy is such a joy! There aren't many venues that artists have that kind of sharing and caring. And then to top it off, to have her meet Dale and fall in love was just icing on the cake...WEDDING CAKE! We LOVE it!

Brenda and I have made a few trips up to Plymouth over the past few months and it is fast becoming a little home away from home. I proposed to her out behind this cow of all places. I kind of hoped the wedding plans would fall into place for the Plymouth event which is why I chose Plymouth for our engagement spot.
Plymouth is a cute little town and is about as "Midwest Dairy Country" as you can find. Looking forward to seeing everyone that can make it to this Summer's big mural event. Looks to be another memorable good time....no GREAT TIME!
