I didn't finish seeing the whole video, I could see yup that is the future and most of it is already happening. If you gots the money you have all the latest toys of technology. Pretty cool!!

I think I still prefer my 91 Toyota truck and cooking with gas,, real fire. Besides, Id get paint fingerprints all over them glass things.

I see the video was made by CORNING. The company headquarters is 20 miles from my house. Gilded a glass ball that is mounted in a large piece of glass that sits in front of the headquarters.
I have two friends that run the "Hot Glass" show at the Corning Museum, Steve Gibbs & John Cowden. The museum is an awesome place!!! If you are ever in the area (Corning, NY) it is a must stop!!!

Why? It's just so sterile and clinical looking. Are those fiberglass blankets and sheets?
Mom whisked into the kitchen long enough to grab an apple and peck a kiss on the family members before flying out the door. From the moment she wakes work takes precidence over family.
Seems to me it is moving the wrong direction. Do we really want to have the "office" in our homes - be sure to turn off the web cams in the bedroom and loo before doing anything personal.
I'd rather be up in the woods in a log cabin smelling woodsmoke, listening to nature. Ahhh, the ludite in me is alive and well.

it only looks sterile because that's the way they designed the commercial.
Put all those display surfaces into the homes of artists, signmakers and pinstripers, and you'd get an entirely different feel!
You'd have counter tops with "live" fingerpainting and pinstriping... appliance facades that morph from stainless steel to porcelain to wood to weathered signfaces to outdoor scenery.. all on command.
and if someone is put off because they popped in on a video call while I was on the toilet, that's *their* problem not mine!
Edited to add: Imagine all that glass stuff is like one giant Wacom canvas, and there were digital airbrushes you could carry around the house "painting" stuff on a whim, that you could change at any time.
How cool is that!?!

I agree with Mike. It would be cool to have everything available. It's like our cell phone. You don't HAVE to answer it. And right now as I look around my house- whoa- I already HAVE a refrigerator that I have to keep clean. Look at that! And I have countertops, and a TV! If I can be sitting upstairs watching my TV and not have to get up to answer the phone? Awesome. Or look and see who's calling and say to myself geez, gotta phone them back later. I think that future computers are coming anyway, so why not embrace it? You don't HAVE to buy anything you don't want to buy. But I would be willing to bet that you already have a computer, as you are reading this. So why not be able to look at Letterville while you are sitting relaxing and have a minute to do so, rather than saying to yourself well I would like to chat with the folks on Letterville but that would mean leaving my comfy couch here and going to the office. (yes, it would not have to be done while its work hours) Its rather like saying gee, I think it would be better to stay with horse and buggy. Its far more earth friendly. Brings the family together as we trek into town for four hours, grab our groceries and make the 4 hour trek home. LOL

You can do most of that now, if want to spend the money on any window and connect to your PC. But did like the phone place on a window and use, instead of hook up wires and use.
Well at least it will get cheaper to be more techy.
Can we all just agree nothing after Blueray, so were not buying new stuff to update our collections lol

Yes, offices are in the homes now for certain jobs. My daughter works for a large corp. Everything she does is on the phone or computer. No commute, (saves time and gas) cheaper lunches, company doesn't have to invest thousands in office space, relieves traffic congestion, saves pollution. It's a new era.
Edit: Another thought. At the beginning it says in the near future.... going to have to be because a little ways beyond the near future you won't need all that glass. 3D projection will put the images into the air without the need of display glass.

Somewhere there's an assumption that the brain is immune to being bombarded while living inside a computer. Is that a reasonable guess based on anything, or just a hope?
Not to mention the difference on the mind and the body between dealing with "natural" materials and techniques or doing everything by wiping your fingertips on things.
Or the difference between real materials like varnished mahogany, or a coat of oil paint, or a good shotgun, and digital reproductions of them.

finger swiping/painting/pointing came before fur on a stick or ink in a tube...
as an iPad user, it's amazing how intuitive and efficient the touch and swipe gestures seem to come so naturally, but there is something to be said about tactile feedback for some things.
