I have a fabricated sign we made out of aluminum composite and I've noticed where we painted the edges of some of the material, that the paint is not sticking too well. We usually prime with BM Fresh Start and Acrylic top coat - the faces are fine, but the edges are the issue. I know the core is poly-somethingorother - is there a better primer that would stick to it?

I've been using an automotive primer for the edges. So far, so good. And just like with MDO, I've been using a file to knock down any sharp edges of the panel so there is less chance of paint pulling away from the edge.

You'll need to get about three, so you can always find one of them- and buy yourself a dozen tape measures at the same time-so you can fine one easily!
They're a terrific little tool, those deburrers!

You can also get a deburring tool at any local tool supply store. We have a Fastenal tool in town here and that's where I got mine. Pay attention to the tips though. There are many different types for the different metals and what types of edges you are working.
