Click on the link below to see the fastest way to peel the mask off off a substrate. The long rod in the drill is just a 3/8" aluminum rod. It just happens to have some mask already wrapped around it. We figured this out when we had trouble peeling a white vinyl panel off the side of an oil truck. Saved a lot of time on this job. There were 14, 8' panels to peel , both sides. Done in about 3 minutes.

That's a Rigid 18v. Thank God when we bought it there was a lifetime warranty on the batteries. We're on the third replacement in 3 years. The mask on the polymetal is very hard to peel. You can't just grab an end and go with it like aluminum sheets.

Slick, will it work on a full 4x8 without killing the operator?

Will it work on a 4x8 with a longer rod? That beats the heck out of my method. I taped 2 two foot tubes from vinyl together and do what your drill does by pushing/rolling the tube. Takes about a minute, but your method is super fast. Thanks for sharing.

Wow Louie that's fantastic. What made you think of this? I use Max Metal, Poly Metal, DiBond, Alupanel all the time. I'm definitely going to try it.
I'd think it may be difficult on a full 4x8 sheet, so I would think we could cut the film down the 8' length with an exacto knife very lightly and remove half of the film at a time.
Thanks for a great time-saving tip!
Anyone heard from Kelly yet?
Sign-cerely, Steve

Joe, it works best around 2-3" thick. When it gets too fat just slice it lengthwise with an exacto and peel the top layers off. That was a spur of the moment video. Next tip will be better scripted.

You could probably add an inline skate wheel or something like that to the end of a longer rod for the 4x8s. The ball-bearings would allow for plenty of spin.
