I've been having a worstening problem with the tracking on my PNC 1000a, the vinyl pulls to the right (like about 1/2-3/4 inch in a 24 inch plot).. I have replaced the pinch rollers at the recommendation of a tech at Rayco supply co (Which he gladly sold me at $34 ea), and it's WORSE!

Anyone have a suggestion?

If you cut a meter of that vinyl and tread it in the other way, does it still go to the right??

Try taking off the bottom cover that surrounds the grit roller. Use some Rapid Remover or similar solvent and a toothbrush to get rid of the squished out vinyl adhesive that can accumulate in the "pores" of the grit rollers.

Make sure the grit roller is solid and firm and that the bearings aren't worn.

OR turn it into a doorstop and buy a new Roland cutter. DO you know how many miles that PNC 1000A has on it??? It probably has more miles than a 1965 Chevy!!!! [Rolling On The Floor] [Rolling On The Floor]

Ed, try taking one of the rollers & rotating it left to right or front to back. See if that helps.
(If what Dave said doesn't help, that is)

Don't deal with both-just try one first & see if that changes things for the better or for the worse, or no difference. (Don't lose that little circlip or the washers, either!)

Sometimes the bearings seem to have a slight taper which helps keep tension between them, I think. Put one on the wrong way round & that ability disappears.

I may be wrong-it's just a feeling.

Ed, Please verify that the wheels were installed correctly. The wheels themselves have a dot on one side of the wheel. When installing the wheels, the left wheel should have the dot on the left side and the right wheel should have the dot on the right side.

I was aware of that... They are installed correctly. In response to dave's post, I have already cleaned the grit rollers, too.

I'm wondering if there might be a bad bearing in the grit roller assembly?

I had problems with my sandblast stencil moving in reverse on my Gerber sprocket fed plotter. I had my plotter setting on the table, the roll of material was level with the plotter and after the stencil feed through, it laid on the same table. The solution was to lift my plotter higher and let the cut stencil feed into a box sitting on the ground. All the while letting gravity keep the material taunt and away from the plotter. I hope this helps!
