Hi guys! Well, I just got back from Washington, and again I'm rethinking my life and my business. The more I go up there the more I fall in love with the place. I'm considering building up my new embroidery business & in a few years, selling it & the sign shop and moving to somewhere around the South Puget Sound, & after so many years, going back to food & beverage. Now my question is, could someone tell me where I need to go or who to contact to get a list of required government documents to keep good ol' Uncle Sam happy, and any additional tips to make the process go smoothly? Down here working with the government is a major hassle and I'm already dreading starting the process again!

Thanks always,
Felix!

That is a big change Felix,I wish you luck. Washington is a beautiful state (no toll roads or bridges).

Actually there's one coming from Gig Harbor to Tacoma! But agreed, its not like in Puerto Rico where you have to pay a buck every time you take a breath!

and a new bridge on the way with tolls - no ones happy about that.

I love living here most of the time but the long gray winters get to be a drag, would rather have snow (I am from Detroit).

Here is a link which lays it out pretty well although you would also need a city license which is pretty easy. Employees and specialty stuff like food or alcohol make it another step or three.

What city are you thinking about heading to?

Felix, check in with Alicia Jennings, she is
around Tacoma, and has a great shop and buisness
seems good for her...

Everett, is not to bad either. Hustle and bustle
is not as heavy.

Felix,
It's real easy in this state. First do business and make a profit, then simply send it all to Olympia and expect a bill for what you forgot.
In case the link doesn't appear above:

To give you a better idea of the business climate, I'd recommend a good read of the State of Audit 2010 report:

Hey Brian where's that link? [Smile] If & when, I'd probably move around Tacoma. I hear you about Alicia, Jack. Thanks. I've been to her & Pat's house. Beautiful place! Thanks Ron.

Alright! Another Letterhead friend in the area. The only adivse I could give you is to maybe not sign any lease or buy property until you get a good feel of the area you want to be in. On the other hand, there's still a lot of bargains to be had in the real estate market. Stay away from river front, near a marsh, or hillside properties. Sooner or later they flood or fall in with a mudslide.

No kidding about the floods! If & when, it'd probably be not too far from you guys, maybe close to Lewis-Mcchord. My cousin just bought a house in Lakewood. (I really like Steilacoom, but I sure as heck can't afford that!
