I am working on a sign that will be going outdoors mounted to brick monuments... I am attaching PVC letters to dibond... The dibond has been painted with automotive paint as the fronts of the letters.. I have used VHB 9473 to attach the letters to the sign.. I was thinking about drilling and screwing the letters from the backside to help reinforce... will the VHB hold good enough outdoors or should I screw just in case. The only problem is the smaller copy will probaly break if I try and Screw from the back side

Silicone is the answer, the should be fine but can dry up over the years. Silicone will stay flexible and allow for movement so the letters wont pop off.

VHB holds up well on the materials you mention. I'm not familiar with the numbers offhand, but the gray tape is good for PVC and the white is good for aluminum, so I'd use the gray.
If you apply the letters indoors at room temperature, the only problem I can imagine is the Dibond flexing before the tape sets up. If you don't bend the Dibond, the letters will not fail.
If you have to apply the letters outdoors in cold weather, there is a cold temperature VHB that you should use.

I regularly bond pvc letters to dibond with vhb tape but always secure with screws from rear. Better to be safe than sorry. Who wants the risk of having to replace a letter 50 miles away two years after job has been finished

I installed a sign with injection molded plastic letters, attached with white VHB about 2 years ago and the letters are as tight now as when new. This is in north central NC, and we do get some high temps and low temps into single digits. No screws used, as the letters are only 1/4 inch thick.
