Complete system crash last month! "Click of death" & what I thought was saved was empty folders!
Trying to rebuild a lot of designs and having a problem downloading files that come as eps. (I.E. Brands of the World) Can not figure out how to bring them into Corel Draw for converting into workable vectorized graphics.
What am I missing?

you can try IMPORTING them using different filters (I can't think of the specific one that usually works for me, and I'm not in front of CDR right now- I'll check and update the post)
Another way is to simply rename the file extension- (from .eps to .pdf) some of these eps files are created in the newer versions of Illustrator, which uses a PDF engine to save vectors-- then simply IMPORT into CDR using the .PDF filter

Steve...Sorry I haven't been more help to you with your problems importing EPS files into Draw.
Try Michael's suggestion it sounds like a good one.
I'll give you a call if you can be sitting in front of your computer while I am. Maybe we can figure it out.

OK- the main filter I use is the "EPS/PS/PRN-Postscript"
go to IMPORT, where it asks "Files of Type:" select "EPS/PS/PRN-Postscript" and it should import in as vectors-- this is also a handy trick for stubborn .AI files that don't want to import- select the file name to import, then change the file type to "EPS/PS/PRN-Postscript"- it may not even show it as a valid file, but just ignore that and click "IMPORT" 9 times out of 10 it will import the vectors.

the most common error is that people try to "OPEN" files like these, which don't work instead of "IMPORT" them into a blank document.
BTW- I'm using CDR X3, but have used the above methods since CDR 7
Hope that helps- feel free to email if I can help- Grundy (although retired and sipping cervezas all day, under the Mexican sun ) is still THE MAN with CDR issues

I just spent 20 minutes with Steve and I have no idea what the problem is. He said that it started occuring prior to his computer crash, so his old computer was doing the same thing.
I am still on Corel x3 and he is on 12
He is also using XP.
I'm gonna call him tomorrow when I can pry Shirl's XP computer away from her.
There is something strange going on though. I downloaded the same version of an EPS file and got a "file not supported" message too, so I downloaded a different version of the same logo and it imported fine.
Next time I went to import, the original one did and the second one wouldn't!!!
Verrry Strange.
Anyway he's good to go with the two logos he is working on right now (I saved em as CorelDraw 12 and e-mailed em to him.)

Here is a trick I use for an eps file that won't budge. Change the suffix to pdf. Open it with Acrobat then save a copy from Acrobat. This copy will also be a pdf file. Now import your copy pdf into to Corel. Amazing how often this works.

As of 7:00 this morning, I am now able to IMPORT eps files again!
Dave called last night and we tried to work through the procedure but were unable to work through the problem. However, this morning I read your post regarding my problem and it worked the first time! AND may I point out - Dave was very helpful. Sent me the two files I needed now.
Go to IMPORT, where it asks "Files of Type:" select "EPS/PS/PRN-Postscript" and it should import in as vectors
I've been downloading from Brands of the World for years and have no idea why or how my settings changed.
Thanks everyone for your assistance. Hard enough to have a hard drive crash, but discovering that what I thought was backed up was empty folders was a real downer! Don't just drag and drop - double check the files to be SURE!
