Got tired of my old pc and it's slow processor. So I broke down and bought a good unit to hopefully end my computing troubles for a while. I bought an HP i7 870 Quad core 2.93ghz, 64bit windows 7, 9gigs of Ram, 1.5tb tower.. I enjoy video editing and wanted a machine to handle the HD videos.

So here the million dollar question (my biggest mistake is I buy now and ask later).. Will my Omega 4.0 with the Usd adapter for my Edge2 be fine? My 4yr old Core duo machine had a heck of a time processing some designs in Omega and I got tired of waiting ...

My VE LXI 8 should be fine ( signwarehouse) or I may have to call them if it doesn't..

Any tips I should know? Copy and paste all my Program files and drop them in the new machine? Thanks in advance!
Ps. I'm posting this in other forums so hopefully this can go without a hitch..

Your Gerber USB to Parallel cable will NOT work on the 64 bit system because it is NOT a "signed" driver. We have a new solution coming and I hope it will be posted soon on our web site.

The 64 bit OS presented a number of issues along with the current USB to parallel Gerber no longer available. We now have a USB to Serial solution and a new USB to Parallel solution. This will include software and cables and you will need Omega 4.0 Build 54 or Omega 4.0 Build 38 w/ the Service Pack also soon to be announced.

PeeWee in you case for the Edge2 you should only need the Omega 4.0 Service Pack and your current Gerber USB to Parallel cable is fine.

if your new system does not have any serial (COMx) ports you will need a USB to Serial cable. As we have found out not all USB to Serial cables (software) are alike. Let me know what your computer has for COM ports, if any.

The new solutions (cables and software) will drive the Edge, Edge II and cutters. The offerings should be ready before the end of the month (January 2011). If you already have our USB to Parallel cable all you need is Omega 4.0 Build 54 or Omega 4.0 w/ the Service Pack which is coming soon.
