Michael's post in the portfolio section of this website regarding his first venture into using a new medium got me to thinking.
I've long admired Michael's work. He has a good sense of design and he's a talented dude. But the bulk of his work to date has been flat. I've long encouraged him to push the boundaries a little.
The week he tried out a new medium , using only a photograph he found on the web for reference. The project was for a family member. I'm told he spent about six hours on the project so far. He quickly discovered the quirks of the medium. And I'll bet he learned lots too. The experience will undoubtably make him even better next time.
Here's his project... It's about 10" from back to the tip of his nose.
AMAZING!
My point is that I believe we are all capable of so much more than we thought possible or give ourselves credit for. Just imagine what might happen if Michael was to do up a variety of different animals and also put them on routed, dimensional sign backgrounds. Samples for his wall. Imagine what might happen if he was to hang them in his showroom AND better yet create a slightly larger one and hang it outside his shop. While he's at it he should take some really good pictures and post them to his website.
I'll bet he would suddenly start selling the pieces and quickly become known as one of the very few who can do this kind of outstanding dimensional work. I'll bet folks would search him out from far and wide. I'll bet he could charge handsomely for this awesome work too... without fear the dude down the street would undercut him by half.
Imagine...
Then do.

Such simple normal forms made to look so outstanding , like those gears on the stairs I had not see yet wow that really sets that room off with the desk. I was hoping to see the finished dinosaur table with the glass top on shucks
