I was eating at my favorite Mexican restaurant today and I see a guy across the street.. a young guy like 25.. I've seen him before, with a bucket in hand hustling down the street. He had came to the same place i was eating a while ago and asked to clean the windows.. I have seen him when it was 105* out practically jogging from place to place.. Well today he stopped in again.. and the owner once again said Okay.. But this time i got up and walked outside and asked him what he was doing.. He responded that he was out of work and was cleaning windows to make a buck.. He also said he had no car and was saving his money.. I told him i had seen him before earlier in the summer.. he was proud and said he had 17 accounts now.. So I asked him for his information.. He borrowed a pen and a piece of paper and wrote his business name.
I then told him I was gonna make him some shirts so he could wear whie he was working..He said "How much?" I said Free..He said "why" And i told him how I thought it was cool of him to be out hitting the streets day after day when most folks would just assume sit on their ass and want the Government to take care of him.. he said "that ain't happenin'.." He also asked to clean my windows and i told him there was no need as I worked out of my home.. He offered to do my house.. I just grinned..
shoot, I'm even gonna make him some little Printed decals to put on his clients windows in the lower corner..We need more guys like him.. He otta like this.. 2 T's and a Long sleeve for the cold months ahead..

Now is he gonna ask for a design revision? Haha.
That is really cool PeeWee. Who was with you when you did that? Do they think you are nuts now. Every time I do stuff like that people look at me like I'm nuts.

Thanks guys.. No one was with me.. Ya, he was a like ? But now he will be like I've been down and out before in my life.. And once I got my life back on track (1994) I've never looked back.. Until you truly been without you have no idea.. Nothing but a broken down car..no home, no job, nothing but a bad habit.. When you rise from that to where I'm at today ...it makes ya feel good. That's my story.

".We need more guys like him.." That's true. Really cool design. In the hands of a guy like you describe, I think the shirt and materials will be put to good use. I was up late, and have to take a nap, but I think somebody ought to report the both of you to your local newspaper.

Peewee, you have a heart of gold. I know what you're talking about being down and out, I was under the other bridge. Beleive it or not I used to be a janitor and wash windows and was pretty damn good at it. That's how I got into sign painting. Had some biz cards made up and the designer was also a sign painter, I saw him painting a sign and knew that what I wanted to do. He ended up giving me my first set of brushes! Yeah let him wash your windows for you, he just wants to show his appreciation and your wife will also be happy!

Cisco, I remember one year when you sat with me and Bob Bond, at a sign show in San Jose. You said "I can't believe I'm sitting here with you two guys" Well here's the deal...I can't believe now that you consider me an old friend. People with good hearts deserve to do good for others. Stay with it Bro' I'll get back down to Cal, one of these days...

Several years ago a man came by (in a car) and asked to wash my windows. I paid him what he asked and then made him a set of magnetic signs for his car...for free. He still comes by from time to time (usually when I'm not here) and washes my windows for free.
He has also sent some work my way. What goes around, comes around.

I love doing random acts of kindness. I repeatedly try to teach my son the act of giving without recieving.
I even brake it down to the point of reminding him, don't even expect a thank you. If you give without even expecting a thank you, you have truly given without recieving.

Great job PeeWee! Sounds like he should get hooked up with a window splasher. Might turn into a pretty good gig for him scrapin' old paint and getting it ready for new paint.
