Things have been busy here all year and that has afforded me a few chances to do a little trading of services. One nice thing about being a sign maker...you can always work a little magic for trade when the situation is right.
Last week I hung up a sign for the local pennysaver paper in town. The return...I get advertising for the next 2 years, in color, across 15 surrounding towns in my immediate market area weekly. Roughly 14,000 homes.
My mechanic's also done some work for trade on a new sign for his garage, including the labor of rebuilding my truck's engine.
What good trade offs have you brokered this year?

earlier this year I bartered a small print job of 30 black t-shirts with a small left chest one color print to a performing arts theater in exchange for 4 season tickets to shows of my choosing: (the Broadway Season Tickets alone were $160 each, not to mention all of the other shows and concerts)
So far we have seen one of the traveling "Cirque Shanghai" Chinese acrobat shows (the kids LOVED it), next week Broadway show "Forever Plaid", December Glenn Campbell in concert, Jan.- Broadway show "Cats", Rich Little in Concert, Spring will bring in Broadway shows "Bus Stop" and "Legally Blonde" and concerts with "the Buckinghams" and "Blood, Sweat & Tears" as well as comedians Collin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood from "Whose Line Is It"
They were so happy with the t-shirts that they want to barter again for next season... Bring it on!

Last winter we swapped some signage for a new woodstove... forgot to investigate the sot of the chimney though !! But this year has been better with the mechanics exchanging truck lettering for various vehicle repairs, I made a sign out of left-over materials for a kayak shop in exchange for a brand-new kayak, and a few smaller things, nothing fancy but it is fun

I recently hooked up to natural gas, ... so traded for a gas tankless water heater, unit and installation included, natural gas fireplace hook up, and natural gas BBQ grill hook up (excluding the actual grill, and fireplace logs. My end of the trade was lettering up an 18' box truck for them. I was paid 1300.00 for the difference between our totals.
Heck, I once traded a logo design job, and a small sandblasted office sign with my dentist for fillings and crowns.
Had treework done, tilework in my house, my wood floors redone, landscaping ... the list goes on.

Signs for 4 roll up doors on my shop addition -- especially the one behind my wife's car -- if you know what I mean.
Yeah, Bruce told me he sold out.
Janette -- my signmaking buddy still trades out with his dentist!
Ray did alright there, because those ads are expensive, especially if they don't bring in customers -- sounds like he can't lose on this one.

I traded for the dirtwork of removing the old junk & unkept trees on the property, graveling the second parking area, removing the unsightly plants out front & replacing it with river rock at the new shop.
Wish I could have traded for paving the front or the 2 new garage doors... at least I made a buddy on the garage doors & he let me use his scissor lift to paint the shop.
My truck is currently getting some TLC at the paint shop since he owes me money.

Was a big Trade this year. A full set of permanent implanted teeth. Right in the middle of it now waiting for the Jaw to finish healing around the Screws.
