I have tweaked a letter style to suite myself, but now to turn it into a useable font in my Gerber Omega software program... Would you know someone I could hire to turn my shapes into a font? thanks-

Michael Gene Adkins (www.thefontry.com) would be the man to talk to. He is the one of the nicest guys in the world, and he knows a lot about making fonts.
I know quite a bit about font making myself, but I don't seem to ever call any of my fonts done enough to sell. LOL
If the vector shapes are accurate and all proportional in size, it's fairly quick to bring them into FontLab Studio and turn out a functional font. But, if you want the kerning to work nicely, it takes quite a bit longer to set up the kerning pairs. That takes a lot of the fun out of it for me.
My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone. Posts: 3129 | From: Tooele, UT | Registered: Mar 2005

Sounds like this will be one of your GOTO-fonts so it would be worth the effort?
Either one of us could help you get those vectors into a working font file. Russ and I have in the past estimated that it takes about 2-3 hours (maybe less if you don't need ALL the characters, maybe more if it is crazy complex)just to get the outlines in place and get the font working--which is usually satisfactory for about any signmaking project.
I'd be glad to help. And so would Russ. He's just shy.

Russ and Michael, Thank you both so much for your advice and offer to help! I had contacted Gerber earlier, also. An employee has helped me through this. And now, I have the new customized font! We are sandblasting small text into brick pavers, thus the need for a more friendly font. I had to get away from the 3 points in the W, M also the tiny areas in the &, A, etc. thanks again-

Deb, I would be interested in seeing what you did for the font.
I just finished close to 600 pavers 80% 4x8 and 20% 8x8. Yeah the ampsands and the A's get tough to do but I have it down pretty tight now, lost about 5 out of them all.
