I am an active member in the Custom Van Movement and have been for over 36 years now. A friend in California recently worked up a website profile on what I have been doing for all of these years now and I decided to share with all of you folks here at Letterville, who really don't know much of me! Enjoy! http://www.vintage-vans.com/BvrWally.html

Wow, that brought back lot of memories, I too had a Custom Van, and like you I bought it brand new, a 1978 Dodge Tradesman.... I had crager wheels, zoomie exhaust, moulded flares and spoilers, the whole 9 yards, and a kick Ass Bose Stereo system... I won a lot of awards at Car shows... and attended numerous "Van Inns".. Our club was the "Newfoundland Travell'n Vans"....I've often though about a return to the 70's and rebuild a Dodge Van... "The Joker's Wild" was the name of my van.. and it the very first time I used an Airbrush...
Thanks for the memories.

That is great to hear Neil! There still is a strong presence up Canada way I might add. We travel there every June to attend "Vanfest" in Ontario.

Rollie, I use to build all those vans professionaly in the 70's. It was a lot of fun too. I was the guy who made the first fiberglass "Crusin Tops" here in Southern California. We really came up with some incredible interiors! I was lucky to get to do all the custom paint jobs too. We couldn't build them fast enough! I can't tell you how many first places we won.

John...I made a trip to LA back in 73 and fell in love with what I saw of them! Out on Sepulveda boulevard there were many at the lots! When I returned back to Virginia, I bought mine and never regretted it! I may have seen some of your work, but never would have known it??? lol Thanks!

Rollie, like John I worked on custom vans back in the early 70's myself! My specialty was custom paint and airbrush murals. I went to work for Winnebago Industries for a while and painted two or 3 vans a day...boy did I get fast.
