OK..here's the deal. I have Internet Explorer and over the past week it has begun to act wierd.
It is running much slower than usual and when I click on any link either here on the Bullboard or something in an email, the address will show up in the tray at the bottom of the screen, but nothing ever happens beyond that.
Also, if I click on the red X in the upper right to exit, the whole thing locks up. I can use the "Back" arrow and get out but no other way.
I have Kaspersky security and it seems to catch any virus activity.
Any ideas as to what I can do? I've cleared the files and history and defragged everything.

I'd suggest a solution but you know what I would suggest and then the fracas that would follow. If you want my opinion just phone me.

I'm not sure how you'd fix that on a Windows machine but on a Mac it's as easy as tossing your preference file, when/if things start acting weird.
May I suggest a different browser?.....Better choices would be......Firefox, Safari, or Chrome by a long shot.
There's a saying I've heard before. It goes something like this:
"Anyone still using Explorer, gets what they deserve".
Good luck!....Is there a re-set in your file menu?

Si has a good suggestion and that's a good place to start. I've always liked Firefox on my PC's and Mac. You might want to try it Raymond. IE is poopooed by most savvy users. I suppose it could be your provider, but it sounds more like a software issue. Is your computer running other programs normally?

I switched to Firefox a year ago when my teenager warned me about how foolish it was to be using IE. It will even move over your bookmarks if you do it correctly.

<ight also make sure you do not have another firewall or virus protection interfering. I use Panda, but every once in a while I have to re-unenable the Mfst Defender.
Dump your internet browsing history. Tools>Internet Options>delete browsing history>delete temporary internet files. Some revisits will load a bit slower the first time you go back, but only the first time.
If all else fails, reboot by turning the machine completely off for more than three minutes.
BTW....you are not using the new Windows 7 are you?

do a google search on spybot search and destroy,...download the free program,...install it,...run it,....when asked, tell it to fix selected problems,...this should remove any tracking cookies and spybots taking up your bandwidth and it will automatically delete all your internet cookies and such,...if there is a program causing IE to run erratically this usually solves it for me,...if its more than that you may have a more serious problem with malware its hard to say whats going on in a browser without actually being there to see whats going on with the machine,...thats what I do when my browser starts acting funny,......
then download mozilla firefox and use it instead,....that way there'll be no problems when it runs,..

Are you running Norton???? We always had problems with IE. We installed Firefox and things got better. I finally removed Norton and a bunch of other crappy "protection" software. Now IE works fine to the point I prefer it to Firefox

We use Avira on our Dell laptop. Works so much better than all the big names. Runs seamlessly, hardly notice it's there, starts up quick and doesn't seem to bog things down.
Have never been sick with Avira and we're only using the freebie version but don't do any email, banking etc. on the PC....I highly recommend it and anything other than IE. lol

Raymond, you may think you need to wait until Saturday to make the browser switch, but you don't. I was one that delayed it for far too long. It was simply a matter of downloading it, then choosing to use it over IE. You don't have to remove IE. You can have both. One doesn't override the other.
I currently have both Safari and Firefox to choose from. IE is history.
LOVE Firefox!! And the reason I went for it was because IE was acting so glitchy all the time.
Don't wait. Do it instead of 1 nap and you may be up and running smoother than you ever have.

Yea, it's pretty painless. Downloads in a few minutes, click to install, asks if you want Firefox to be your default browser say yes or no, asks if you want to transfer your bookmarks/favorites or whatever IE calls them....say yes and your done....Enjoy!

Last year, I started having problems with IE. I tried Firefox and Chrome and decided I like Chrome better and switched. No looking back and no going back.

Yep, Firefox solved all the problem I was having and it's super fast, too. Thanks to all who made the comments. It will take me a little while to get used to navigating a new browser, but I already am greatly impressed and it's only been up a few hours.
