We have done others here in the past with great success including the Roy Darby Wall mural in 1985, So you can see we have been doing for many years. Northwood signs is hosting a place to camp and having after hours Music. Please call me if you are interested or have Questions, Thanks Pete McKearnan, Member of Letterheads since Boise Bar-B -Que 1981??
He was using thewalldogs.com as a portfolio for the artists attending this meet. I didn't know about this meet until just now. The only reason I found out about this meet was an inquiry to the site by a local reporter. I don't know if he planned on inviting any of the walldogs who have been attending meets recently or not. The event is scheduled for two weeks from now. If you are interested in getting in contact with him, feel free.

Pete is a friend of Noel Weber's . . . and also John Studden and Lee Littlewood (and more). He's a longtime Letterhead so he knows about the 'Dogs . . . Lee worked on Mark Oatis' wall in Belvidere and I think Pete may have been in Lodi, also. (A blurred memory there!!)
I suspect this gathering is like some of us do when we get wall jobs . . . he's using Letterhead friends (and others) to help with the labor. We use Midwestern 'Dogs . . .

Thanks, Jay. I didn't know that. No one here at our shop had heard of him, and my original suspicion was that this was a person who hadn't been to a walldog event, but was planning a walldog even using the site as a portfolio, but then not inviting all of us that normally attend meets. I don't know about everyone else, but I personally wouldn't have liked that. I'm relieved now knowing that this wasn't the case.
Perhaps, moving forward, if folks who plan on doing that would let us know through the site, It would avoid a lot of the confusion that has taken place on these forums the past few weeks.

Ben . . . I am 100% in agreement with you . . . Protecting the reputation the Walldogs have built up with our benevolence and good deeds is vital - and deserved.
Letting folks know that in advance keeps any disputes at bay - and forewarns anyone with less-than-good-intentions that this group will not be compromised.
Nancy Bennett named this group - and nobody or any group - has the right to lay claim to any of its COLLECTIVE achievements . . . If you've never been to a Walldog meet, you ain't one . . . yet. If you have been to a Walldog gathering, then you should speak as a representative of the group . . . and there is a long history of past success to help you know how.
Pete will do a great job . . . and will likely have some West Coast 'Dogs to help out . . . I hope he considers promoting it as a part of the collective Walldog meets of the past (and present) . . . and sends photos and stories of the event. This ain't just a Midwest thing . . . it's a worldwide grass roots group . . .
So when are you Aussies and Kiwi's gonna get a group rate on flights so we can come paint and 'winter' during your summer????? If only . . .

First of all the Walldogs website is a great site, And I am impressed at how organized the walldog movement has become. I did make it to Lodi and had a great time working on Noels and Marks murals We have in error used the website in some promo material to show some past Walldog events. We were not in any way trying to use it as a portfolio or representation of the Walldog Org. Since this is a single wall we did not consider this a national event. I just knew a Walldog as a sign painter who worked on wall signs off the ground. We will not be using your website in any future material for this meet. Sorry about that and the confusion it created. I also contacted the reporter and I hope I set the record straight.
Thanks for what you folks are doing for the Walldog Movement.

So, Pete . . . some Dog's are a little tired of so many meets in the Midwest . . . understandable since it was born here - and much cheaper to attend for many of us - but the travel to new places would likely make it even better . . . and draw some new people into the mix.
Corn fields have nothing on the beauty of Oregon . . . so what would the chances be of organizing something out there? Yourself or anyone else work closely with any communities where they might benefit from the great things that happen at these events?
It doesn't hurt to ask . . .!!
P.S. - I'm not sure that since you're a 'Walldog' by definition, that using the Walldog's site for promo was truly 'in error'. I guess it is for mass consumption of people who've participated in the past . . . and if I'm not mistaken, that would include you. Right? It IS for directing a community to to see what we do . . . though it sounds like this is more of a small gathering of friends. But I don't see it as an error myself. Just needed explanation . . . Good luck with it - and think about hosting or organizing a meet. It's tough - but incredibly rewarding when you're done . . .

Bill, I sure would think so. But since there is no real organization/association its hard to say who is or isn't, cause no one is in charge. While working on a wall beside other artists, I've heard other dogs call little kids who painted a few strokes on a wall a walldog.
I hope no one thinks that our management of that site some how makes us an authority on such matters. We simply wanted to make a promotional tool and a way to organize content about the walldogs. It's certainly not an attempt to be in charge.
Hey Pete, thanks for the clarification. It's not my call to make, but I wouldn't say your use of the site is an error at all. You worked at that meet. In my mind you have every right to use it to promote any type of walldog event you are hosting. We made the site so that walldog artists could show/explain what these meets are all about when approaching a town with the idea of doing one.
We were simply confused, because all of the sudden we started receiving information that a meet was being held in less than a month, and no one seemed to know anything about it. Our fear was that someone who wasn't involved with the walldog's was somehow using the walldog name to their advantage. NOW, we know that isn't the case. So, no big deal.
I agree with Jay about having a larger event in your neck of the woods. Our shop did one mural in Pontiac a year before our meet and it was used as a major selling tool to get that meet to happen. Maybe you could do the same. It sure would be great to walldog over there.

Had a great chat with Pete this afternoon . . .
You may see a Walldog meet out there at some point in the next few years if the stars all align . . . and he and Lee Littlewood would be your men on the scene. Couldn't be in better hands, if so . . .

Hey Joe, I like the idea of the Walldogs site being a freely-used source of information and inspiration for potential meets. I noticed a link to "Testimonials" but it only had one. That would be a prime spot for Scott Eisenhauer from Danville, Ellie Alexander and Bob Karls from Pontiac, Bill Dailey from Belle Plaine IA, the development committee from Suwanee, GA and other municipal leaders to explain what the Walldogs have done for their prospective towns. The power of their messages would provide a perspective that people outside Walldogs/Letterheads could relate to. Just thinkin' out loud......

Agreed, when we first built the site, I really sought out that information, but since then, the testimonials page has suffered slightly. I could probably get on Bob & Ellie to get something for the site. If anyone else has access to any more testimonials let me know. You can email me at ben@diazsignart.com
