Using PS7 on Mac Powerbook G4.
In my document I have a text layer, then a picture layer, and a background layer (white) stacked from top to bottom in that order.
I've applied a yellow Outer Glow to my blue text on the text layer. However it is behind the white background layer. It shows up as soon as I click on the eyeball to shut off the white background layer. ?????
I AM applying the effect to the Text layer. The blue text is visible, but the yellow Outer Glow is not.
Totally baffling me.
Any suggestion appreciated.
Thanks, Mick

I just created your graphic on my computer..... If the text is in the photo area the glow effect is visible.... If the text is in the white background it is not visible.... With the default settings the blend mode is set to screen, the technique to softer and the opacity to 75%. The yellow glow is so transparent it is not very visible on the white background. Move the text over the photo, or change the background color and you will see that the glow is there. To make it visible on the white background you will need to change the settings or the color of the glow.

if you want it to glow on the white set your blend to multipy... glow over dark and light set to normal

Thanks guys. Mark, all I did was set the blend from default 'Screen', to 'Multiply' and it became visible.
Thanks so much!

If you keep the layer effect window highlighted blue you can use the up & down arrow key on your keyboard to quickly scroll through all the effects and see what they look like.
