I heard from my host family yesterday and responded, thinking we could start with a little humor, but I may have freaked them out a little bit. Here's our e-mail exchange:
"My husband and I will be hosting you during the Walldogs event in Danville. We were asked by the Housing Committee to contact you to find out when you will be arriving and how long you plan to stay. We will look forward to hearing back from you."
My reply:
Thank you for hosting us - we're looking forward to seeing you next week. I'll be flying into Bloomington on Wednesday and my wife and our seven children will be coming in on Friday. We're planning on staying a couple of months unless you're a really good cook, in which case we can stay a bit longer. Do you mind if we bring the dogs along too? Most of them are house-trained............
As of today, I have not gotten a reply so I sent this:
Hi Melody, I haven't heard back from you, so I assume we're all set. I have a few cousins who want to join us, but they can camp in your yard and won't be a bother at all. See y'all next week.......
I'm thinking I might should reserve a room at the Days Inn, just in case...........

I'm bringing my pet yak, she has a slight diarrhea problem but the bag and tarps catch most of it.

Or we could all go over and bunk in with Carol Kaufman at her mansion. She and her daughter are staying at the Jerry Van Dyke mansion, replete with pool, butlers, chefs, and chauffeurs.
Carol, please tell the staff we'll have mimosas and eggs benedict for brunch.......

Sonny you are a classic! Only thing I see is they don't know you, and about the 5 other adopted kids you have help you drive when you get tired. See you somewhere in Danville...

Bob, I gave them your name as a reference - I also mentioned that you were good buddies with Rod Blagoyevich and he might be a neighbor of yours soon..........
