Ahhh Thank you everyone! I'm getting ready to head on over to Minneapolis tomorrow to paint another mural, so i'll be there for a few days then off to the big city of Danville. Kelly, here you go... the picture together of the whole mural, just kind of hard to shoot it without a real good wide angle. http://www.facebook.com/ciscovargas#!/photo.php?pid=1377129&id=1062211728
This just came out today in the Fresno Bee.
Selma's mural Posted at 12:57 AM on Sunday, Jul. 25, 2010
There is a real story about how Selma's first outdoor mural was realized in a small community in the throes of the worst of economic times. The citizens of Selma are to be congratulated for believing in and supporting a dream. Thank you to the individuals, organizations and businesses who gave initially to get it started; to the children of the schools who brought in their nickels and dimes; to the friends and supporters from as far away as Florida and Oregon who just wanted to help; to the accomplished artist, Ernie Palomino, who gave his beautiful, studied rendition to the project; to the painters, FranCisco Vargas, Ramiro Martinez and Mario Bonilla, who executed the piece; to the Robertson-Guerra Insurance Agency who gave their wall and support to the project. And to all of the others who gave in so many ways, thank you. This mural belongs to you. Ironically, Selma's only other mural, located inside the Selma Post Office, was painted during the 1930's depression era, a monument to a people's determination and hard work. Congratulations and enjoy! Vicki Filgas
