Danville is the home of Carl K. Lindley, the first person to post a sign in Watson Lake. So, that is why the sign post forest is so important to the Walldog meet this summer.
Watson Lake has mailed a sign to Danville, IL for its sign post forest, and has become its Sister Sign Post Forest. With over 65,000 signs now in Watson Lake, the Walldogs are going to help Danville get off to a great start with a 100 plus signs. But Danville needs one more sign that reads Danville, IL 0 Miles.
This is my challenge for the Walldogs that are registered to participate in Danville: I would love to have a Walldog design the sign that reads: Danville, IL 0 miles, so Carl’s family can place it in the new forest. Participants should post their designs on CSA and Letterville. The winner will get to paint the sign and deliver it to the family on Saturday, August 7th when we dedicate the opening of the forest. You will also win two dozen donuts from the Royal Donut shop in Danville. This is the unofficial Donut of the Walldogs. (It’s my hope that it becomes the official Donut before the meet.) Deadline for your entry is July 10, 2010. The winner will be selected by the Hometown Dog and her pack. Sign requirements: cannot exceed 24” x 24”, painted on a durable material to withstand weather.
May the force be with you and good luck!

This sign needs to be just a little bigger.

Well it looks like the Walldog meet has 165 painters coming to Danville. Registration is closed now! With the number of painters embarking on Danville we should have the artist to make this a fantastic meet. Danville this is a shining moment for your city. Congratulations! Cornbread

Grampa Dan has taken up the challenge!!! Who will be his huckleberry??? I am going to add to the grand prize, and throw in some Anti Monkey Butt Powder. So let’s recount you could win two dozen Royal Donut from the unofficial Donut of the Walldog. Plus Anti Monkey Butt Powder! It looks like Grampa Dan is going to win it all unless Michael, Duncan, and Jay stop him. I can see Grampa Dan now holding his 2 dozen donuts and gracefully giving the yellow container of Anti Monkey Butt Powder a soft kiss. Obi-Wan Jay Kenobi will you be our only hope? Good luck and may the force be with you.

I simply can't believe no one else has taken up this challenge! (YET)
Donuts are among my favorite things. Two dozen in a single sitting is a bit much though so I'll share them (if I win) with whoever joins in and submits a design.
I'd really like to up the ante to all my fellow project leaders. My favorite beverage is Coca Cola (in a can of course and ice cold too. And I'd sure like some with them donuts. I'd wager some coke against their favorite beverages if they care to take me up on this little CHALLENGE... Anyone else want to jump in that would be fine too!
Here's my entry for the CHALLENGE featuring some Butler Gold...
If the design is selected I'll route it from 1.5" thick 3o lb Precision Board on our MultiCam. The 3D file will be created using EnRoute software. The zero is gold leaf of course!

It looks like somebody has sabotaged Grampa Dan’s entry. All I can see is a gray box with a red X in it. I have my suspicions of who it may have been but I’m not saying.

Some folks will do almost anything to appear to be ahead in these 'WARS' and CHALLENGES that keep spontaneously happening. But no fear... here's the design once more (with some security software embedded to protect it... ) Actually what happened is the file was posted as a CMYK file. Mac's Safari browser shows the picture fine (although the colors are not quite as rich as when it is a RBG file) but on a PC all we get is the red X.

To encourage more to compete in this challenge I have upped that ante, and have added one yellow container of Anti monkey but powder. On the hot days in the sun in DANville you could feel as fresh as a baby. This powder works magic! It looks like Grampa Dan will powder himself with all the glories that will be bestow upon him. Who will be the night to his day? I have called out Obi Wan Jay Kenobi, and Michael Brave Hart Clark but not even a whimper has come from their keyboards. Will the sky’s open up and the sun shine on a gladiator of paint, or is this all just a dream. How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop? Will Cricket return to the Young and the Restless on daytime TV? These last two things I’m unsure about but a hero within our grasp I know exists. Grab your mouse hero and get to work and liberate your imagination so we all can be in Awe of you. Dream a better dream and paint like there’s no tomorrow.

Well someone has to keep Dan honest and although I might not be able to keep up with him on a cnc machine yet I know I can go toe to toe with him drinking Coke classic, in a can, very cold. 57 years of training drinking the elixir of the god's makes me that confident. Look up... look way up( for those Canadians who grew up with the Gentle Giant). I present my lofty Danville Sign Pole Topper.

Dan, I like to share as well, but I hope it's Canadian Coca Cola. As Dan knows there is a big difference in the taste of Coke from here in Canada to what they have in the States. Not that there is anything wrong with the US Cokes taste, just not like our homegrown.
That's why I drive to U.S. Letterhead meets because 3 cases of coke, going through airport carry-on can be a bitch.

Aaron had originally posted his design as a CMYK. I could see it on my Mac but it was negative colors and very dark. Here's a bigger version in RBG so everyone can see the cool design...
It looks to me like the judges are going to have a tough decision on their hands...
