I have a customer that is removing adhesive from hard hats and has asked if the product that we use, Rapid Revover, is "Acid Based"?
Like their hard hat standards requireing 3M material, if the wrong solution is used to remove the adhesive, the hard hats may be deemed non-compliant. I couln't locate this specific info on the bottle.

Try WD-40.....as for the Rapid Remover, I don't know what's in that stuff, but anything that smells that bad can't be healthy. That being said, it does work when you absolutely have to use it.

we use the Rapid remover exclusively and have removed adhesive from had hats before, but never had the issue that you are referring to, you will have to get with roger on the acid thing. i wouldn't hesitate to use it as it has not effect the plastic in any way that i can tell...not even any discoloring or scuffing. i highly recommend the you re-clean after you use the remover, first with the Rapid Prep then with the rapid tacII for the final clean.
we strip vehicles to banners using this product and have never had a issue...good luck!

Unlike most "citrus based products", Rapid Removers' biggest component is Citrus Solvent.
Some retail products only give you 3% citrus solvent, the rest Xylene, which is Haz. and slow to work. As for the hard hats, you will have to determine from our M.S.D.S. wheather its ok for this use/purpose.The are downloadable from www.rapidtac.com

I just used some to remove the paper from old acrylic!! man that was the best value I've ever derived from the stuff & it's always awesome on adhesive removal anyway... but taking that paper off the acrylic was looking like it was going to be hours work, or time to toss out a full sheet of material... just soaked the paper, waited 10 minutes... presto... no scrape marks, no fighting against the current... just a problem solved!

When it comes to removal of any adhesive... Rapid Remover is the only way to fly! I've tried other "so called" removers and they either do two things... don't remove the adhesive or damage the surface.

I tried something the other day on the drain bottle on the Versacamm printer. The bottle was full, so I emptied it and decided to clean the inside of it. I sprayed Rapid Remover into the bottle and was amazed on how it removed the ink from the sides. Just a tremendous product!!!

We have a project now to remove old graphics from 42 pickups and replace with new vinyl.
One of those 3M vinyl wheels does a fast job of taking off the vinyl and Rapid Remover quickly removes any adhesive left behind. A "rapid" cleaning with Rapid Prep and the vehicle is ready for new graphics.
It's just good stuff, Roger.

Ray, Ray, no, the pick-ups won't be ready for vinyl application after a cleaning with Rapid Prep!! You MUST clean again with Rapid Tac or Rapid TacII,and a "cheap kitchen paper towel".
glad I caught you before you did that and got p.od at me cause the vinyl wouldn't stick.

Thanks for the tip Roger. I've just been wiping it down with clear water after the Rapid Prep and everything has been working fine. No problems yet.
I'll make the next necessary step also, though...just to be sure.

Rapid Remover can be harmfull to plastics and rubber givin enough time,(we have a warning on the label about plastcs) plastic is more time sensitive then rubber.
I have cleaned adhesive from both without damage, that said, I worked fast and rinced away the remover as soon as possible. Its a grey area and you must determine if the need is worth the risk, usually more exposure then a couple minutes is enough to etch or bite in to plastic.
