I get a bunch of them from time to time-yes, don't open the zipped file-bad news! We never order using UPS down here anyway, so it's clearly a cronk.

I got that earlier this year. I knew it wasn't legit when I saw they attached a ZIP file. Plus, UPS calls when they have trouble delivering. Kind of a no brainer. They usually follow up with a more urgent message, like a final notice or something.
But, it would still be fun to find out where they come from

Hi Wayne, and everyone - I just received some helpful info. from an Identity Theft specialist, friend of mine. She says you can just "forward" suspicious e-mail's to: spam@uce.gov Or you can report spam to: www.ftc.gov/spam Or forward the email to the spammers' internet provider: abuse@(the ISP's name).com I think that these places have people working on investigating evil e-mailers. Hope this helps! Kathy

The spam says they're attaching a copy of an invoice but the name of the attachment, "2 UPS_Invoice_12.06.2010.zip...... application/zip 38.84 KB" says it's an application. Isnt that itself a tip off that it's phony?

Unfortunately, there is an amazing number of people who don't understand. My mom is one of them. She doesn't pay attention and just assumes that the anti-spam program and anti-virus programs will simply filter out all of the bad stuff.

Sorry Glenn, I forwarded it to the "spam.gov" address above the Kathy had....then deleted it. If it shows up again, I will send the ip your way.

For future, I recommend registering with SpamCop.net. It has a window where you past the headers and the message, or some of the message. Then it gets reported to the proper ISPs
For the headers of an e-mail in Windows, hit Ctrl F3. I've done this for years--less and less every year, and nowadays I seldom get spam.

Is there any thing like that for the telephone spam? Eg if I had Caller ID could reporting the calling number accomplish anything?
I've been getting calls for over ten years from various collection agencies trying to locate a Robert Kiernan. I imagine they go thru all the Kiernans listed in the phone book, on the chance they'll connect with him. The guy must have had quite a career.
