I received an automatic transaction notice from PayPal yesterday that I hadn't authorized. Although it was a smaller amount ($49.95) it was set up for monthly withdrawls. I changed my password and filed a disputed charge wiht PayPay and they notified me today that they had ruled in my favour and the charges have been reversed. I changed my password and security questions, and am very satisfied with the way PayPal dealt with it, but I'm somewhat spooked by the fact it happened. Is this quite common? The company that made the transaction was a web hosting company that looks to be legit, although the phone number listed was from Iceland and the company is from Detroit.

I had something very similar happen to me. The amount was $14.99 & it went through 2 weeks in a row before it was caught on the 3rd consecutive week. It was an online gambling site, kind of thing I would never sign up for. PayPal was awesome about resolving it quickly. Still not sure how it happened, though.
