Met an old friend tonight for the first time in eight years. One of the most brilliant computer people we have in Ireland who helped me out many times in my early days. He had two beautiful grand daughters with him aged four and two. It turns out he is suffering from Parkinsons disease. He told me he is organizing a school reunion dating back forty years of early computer engineers. He tells me they're basically all in poor financial shape despite having come up with some great ideas in their time. It seems so unfair, we have politicians who are all millionaires and have done nothing and these brilliant minds never seem to be rewarded. He is such a lovely kind soul, it seems so unfair

Newsflash! Life isn't fair. Otherwise, why would I be working my butt off to make my wife's SUV payment and some black dude is jetting around the country in a private jet chanting "Pants on the ground, Pants on the ground."
Kevin, I do feel for your friend. A friend of mine, an engineer that my father's construction company used for over 30 years recently died after suffering with Parkinson's for a few years. He did tons of free work for the city of Pensacola, was instrumental in a lot of engineering projects.... and then in his latter years when he should have been able to retire, suffered from that horrible disease..... very sad.

I don't usually post on "downer" threads...
BUT..A dear friend of ours is dying in Mexico (his love of the country and his wishes)
Life is not fair..he is 63 years old and as giving as any person could be.
No need for prayers or wishes for him, but a prayer for Vicky, his wife, might help.

so sorry about your friend..as my father had Parkinson's. He gave me my first sign brush and supported my classes through junior college and my sign art later. The symptoms were not shaking as much as memory loss and temperamental outbreaks but we were comforted to have family around him always. He lived so many years in the Fla Keys that finally my family went and got him to come back to IL.
take care, cherish the memories;; prayers to anyone here that asks; you got it.
