I could have sworn that I had seen some lighted logo signs at a mall (Sears, United Artist) that were dark letters during the day, but when lit would be white.
I have no idea how it was done, or what kind of material they used, but if it's something that is available, and anyone knows who can do this for me it would be much appreciated.
Anybody?
Thanks in advance!

Could you possibly be talking about the reversed channel letters that have the "halo" lighting effect around the back of them. They could appear white or any other color at nite, but be a different color during the day.

Other than the plex there is 3M Dual Color film and 3M Day/Night film which can be used as an overlay on white acrylic pan channel letter faces. Either will give the effect you mentioned.

What Brent said. I've used that a couple times and it looks really cool.
The stuff I used was actually kinda like reverse window perf..... it is black on the outside but has holes so the light can shine through at night. This caused it to wash out just a tad both ways. In the day time it lightened the black just a little bit, and at night, it knocked down the light quite a bit...
Still made a really cool sign though.

Tough to find specs on the Plexi Day/Night, although it sounds like a good option, (luckily the logo is blue) I'll give our local plastics guys a call.
Hadn't really considered the halo method, may have to look at that as an option.
Thanks!

Joe, if you're still lurking around, go over to the portfolio section and check out the work done by Brian Stoddard. You can see there what I was talking about regarding the halo letters, and their ability to show as 2 different colors.

TrimUSA also can do custom colored perforated materials for the day/night look. I doubt it's as durable or long lasting as acrylic though.
