AutoDesk, the company behind AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, and now a whole host of very high end design software packages, has a new app for the iPad called Sketchbook Pro. One of the nifty features it offers is exporting files as layered PSD Photoshop native format, for refining sketch work at your regular workstation PC. Pretty cool!

This thing is getting good reviews and is getting close to what I was hoping would eventually be available for the iPad, a means to edit illustrator files for showing to clients on site. It certainly seems to be heading in the right direction

As I was browsing the Apps on iTunes last night, I noticed that Adobe has one for the iPad - a raster AND vector program for sketching, and compatible with Photoshop and Illustrator too. It's also free!
There is some really cool stuff coming out for the iPad, it's quickly starting to look really worth the investment.

Eight freaking dollars for the app???? Are you kidding me? And two idiots actually bitched about the price because they already bought the app for their iphone for $3.00 Really? Gads, some people are just unable to be satisfied. The app looks awesome. If I ever get one I'll definitely buy that app. Thanks for the heads up.

Being an Autodesk Inventor user, I would never buy an Autodesk product for myself. Pay $16,000.00 then a sh*t load per year, and the manuals are not complete, so you Have to use support for tutoring. So, no annual fee paid, no support!

I understand that it cannot multi-task... that you can only have one app open at a time...is that information incorrect? Seems like it could handle more than one app simultaneously... I'd like to know where that stands.
I can see myself getting one of those... but might just wait for the next gen too.... these things usually see major tweaks the second go-round.

I thought about buying one ... but decided that I was not going to replace the Crucifix on the wall with a picture of Steve Jobs ... just so that I could buy one!

Todd, Apple are showing off their 4.0 sodtware update on the iphone and ipad on Thursday. It's widely rumoured even expected it will feature multi tasking for the iPad. Will probably be available in late June. Iv'edecided to get one when they launch here in Ireland

Like Kevin said, the new iPhone OS is being released and it's rumored to allow multitasking.
Incidentally, the current "inability" to multitask actually isn't because of hardware/performance issues. It's because more applications running simultaneously really saps the batteries in a heartbeat, and people want their mobile toys to have all kinds of playtime!

Billy, don't be talkin' no trash about my Zune. I can share or do whatever I want with my music, instead of having Steve Jobs as an I-pod warden........

Hey Todd, I was talking about the grammar, not disputing the content. At least the second article was written in proper English.
Sonny, so you like the idea that you can share your music with anyone, thus ripping off the "artist" of their deserved royalties? Isn't that what so many of us sign "artists" complain about when our designs get stolen or used without permission? I don't see a difference.

Dave, being able to use the music you rightfully purchased in what ever device you own, isn't ripping off any artists. If I buy a song on i-tunes, I believe I should be able to play that song on my zune or an ipod or any Mp3 playing device.
Unfortunately, Like on iTunes, when you purchase a song from the Zune collection, you also have the same restrictions preventing you from playing songs on other nonzune devices. That is unless you burn the song to a disk and then rip it from that disk. ... but that is cheating, and wasting CD-Rs.
But Zunes do have nice features where you can share music that you purchased with your friends. They can listen to the song a few times or have it stored in your collection for a certain period of time before it becomes unusable. This isn't stealing at all. Its actually promoting that music and helpful to artists. Kind of like a trial period to test out the music.
Also (my favorite part of owning a zune) you can purchase a Zune Pass for about $15.00 a month and have unlimited music downloads.

Joe, you are right, he did say sharing, not giving. I've heard about so much "sharing" that is really distributing. I'm a little sensitive in that area since my son is writing music. I just read a recent article that said way more music is ripped off than is purchased.
