I hear the same thing Tony says. I'm hearing pretty good things about Rolco slow size. But in all honesty, I don't think anything will ever compare favorably to the originals.

Thanks for your input. I think i will do a couple of sample pieces with both types. We have enough of the old to last maybe 2 years. Have a Happy Easter.

LeFranc reformulated their old slow size a few years ago to get the Lead out and the first stuff out there was not too good (think Avery with Gold). It ticked off Art Essentials so much they quit carrying LeFranc. They re-reformulated and it seems to be better. After a while, Art Essentials started carrying the newest formula. In the meantime, upon their suggestion, I switched to Rolco slow size and have been very pleased with it. I did buy some of the latest LeFranc to try it out and so far, it's done well, but still too early to tell.

Hi David. Thanks for the information. When LeFranc switched to their New, we bought some just to have. Would you know of any way to tell if the new we got is of the first batch and not the re-formulated?

I don't know. There may be a batch number on the container that could be referenced in some way. You might also call Art Essentials and ask them if they know a way to tell. Possibly the label has changed.

Kevin....the old formula has lead in it and is marked as such. I have a couple of test pieces on the go in my "yard" but it will take some time to tell if there "are" hte differences I have have heard of. For now at least I'm using a german brand also available at Art Essentials and am quite satisfied with it. Don't have the name handy........ sorry.

Hi Doug. I will look forward to any progress you have with your samples. I wonder if maybe I could use 1 part of the old and 1 part of the new to help extend the life of the old size, since we have a limited amount left. I remember being at Rick Glawsons meet in 84-85? and as I walked into his backyard, he had 5-10 different pieces with different products used. I asked him why so many? His response: Better to try them now and see what happens in 5-10 years, than to use 1 and have bad results. Thanks guys for all the input. I guess time will tell.
