This is the interior so far. We have great plans and it's coming along really well. If you are interested in contributing, loaning or selling your artwork, you probably already got a letter or you can contact Ellie at the Pontiac Tourism office about shipping, etc. The opening is May 1st so if you are in the area, you KNOW Pontiac will welcome you with open arms!

We even found a ghost mural on the brick in the basement entry! Ellie has photos but I can't figure out how to post HER photos. I'll try to get a shot this week.

One thing we plan on doing is separating that long wall you see in the picture into different sections. Each section will display photos. One will be a historic look at Walldogs. One will be the modern Walldog movement (Walldogs from 1993) - today. One will be Murals on Rt66 (this will hopefully get folks doing the Rt66 tour to stop in) And we may do one section that will focus primarily on the Walldog event we had in Pontiac. In the historic section and the modern Walldog section we will be using LCD tvs to display the huge collection of photos we have. They will be running a sideshow presentation on loop.
We also have a place set aside where we hope to display the tools of the trade. We could use some help with that. If any of you have old cans of paint, brushes or any other tool that you think might be interesting to display give us a call.
In the back of a building is a small room that we are going to transform into a mini theater. We are going to place benches/chairs and install a digital projector that will play movies like the documentary that was shot in our town last year.
The Durhams have donated some of their T-shirts from past walldog meets that we hope to put up on display. We had the idea of string a cloths line across the building where we can hang them.
Towards the front of the building we are going to erect a scaffold and stage a scene with 1 or more mannequins and make it appear as though they are working on one of the walls
In the back of the building we will create an area that will have a hands on experience that will be used when larger tour groups come in.
There are also two rooms in the middle of the building that we set up like mini galleries. They will be for one man shows or could be used for local or some of you walldog artists to display their work, but we plan on rotating work in and out of that room.
We also hope to cover any leftover free space on the walls of this museum with all types of old or new signs, and we also could use some help with that.
Dale Manor had the idea of displaying the different ways of transforming a design to a wall, that I would like to see incorporated.
I know there are some more. But that was all I can remember so far. If you guys have more ideas please let us know.

I will try snd put together a few framed pieces from the barn mural I did which shows pretty well how the grid system works. I also think some of the photos of the projector party in Pontiac would work well for showing that technique. You could also do a piece of pounce paper on the wall curled back showing some powder dots and the rest painted in to depict that technique?
I had another idea that might be interesting if there would be room? What about doing a display that showed a mural in various stages of completion? For example, the lower corner could show the marker lines on primer and the middle section could show colors blocked in and the opposite upper corner could show the outlined finished colored mural. There could be the top of scaffolding "sticking" out of the floor to give the impression the viewer is up on scaffolding looking at this piece.....with tools, sketch, paint and such laying on the scaffolding.....just thinking out loud again!
I'll try also to put together a DVD of hi-res images from all the Walldog events that I have attended and get that down to you guys.
I am in the process of upgrading my computer so I will get this done as I get my files sorted out and better organized.

I have an old swing stage with the long wood planks, ropes and even the big ol' hooks . . . as per Billy's suggestion . . .
Not doing me any good here . . .
Is there a use for them in the museum . . .?? I got the mailer about donating - but that's all I have to offer up right now - except for some printed Walldog mural designs I've done . . . if interested in any of those . . .

We don't want just donation but you can loan or even sell if you are so inclined. I love this town~! We have city workers up there at the museum ripping and tearing, the Library is searching for info, local artists and making cars for all over the downtown for the weekend of the grand opening. Here's our car in it's early stages...

They made for some exciting times Sonny,...remember the old hot wax paste up art curling up and disintigrating from the heat and or your artwork catching fire from the heat? Can't count all the old toasty brown layouts we had in the morgue at the billboard shop I worked in as we kept all the layouts from the 50+ years they had been in business,,

We're really showing our age Timi - those Beselers were tanks and a royal pain to try to project from a book, but what would we have done without them?

Just put some books in the mail to the museum. One is a really comprehensive book on Wyland and the Whaling Walls. If you don't already know about his incredible murals, go here:
