This is a job that Mike and I installed this morning. It will win no awards and will not go in the portfolio, but it will pay some of the bills.

The logo is not mine (designed by some agency) and the idea for the structure is not mine, either - the client described what he wanted. He also wanted his name and phone number on a separate panel for easy changing.

So, all I did was draw it up and submit it for approval. Mike took the drawing and did all the construction and painting. The main panel is a digital print (4' x 5' approximately) on DiBond, the small panels are vinyl on DiBond. The posts are redwood and the top is pine. Everything is double faced.

It is set 24" in the ground in concrete.

Cost: $1,450.00

These jobs are not all that exciting because you just do what the customer wants and cash the check...but it is money and money pays the bills.

He expects to change his name & phone number as if they're temporary, yet he wants a monumental sign to last...hmmm.

Interesting marketing concept- the pride & the lion.
(I wonder whose breath is going to be smelly- him, the lion, or the client! [Smile] )

It is one of the most humbling experiences, struggling to pay the bills. I appreciate the gift of that experience it keeps me close to the core.

Thanks for the nice words, all.

It's not that it is a bad sign, it's just that I really didn't have any part in the design process - I just put the pieces together. An agency did the logo and I printed it out, and the client told me how he wanted the structure to look.

Yes, I'll tell folks that I did it but it's not really my creation. I was more of an order taker.

Mike did an excellent job of figuring out how to build it and doing the finish work.

Also, I don't care for signs with swinging parts. Looks too temporary.

But...I cashed the check just the same.

All of that plus installed in the ground for $1,450.00, sorry but I think you left some money on the table, on this one.

Wow, that pictorial is amazing, it's very impressive and has a great impact as it seems as though it comes to life, subtly! Cool, different concept for a dentist office; the pride is there.

My dentist's wife decorated the office with an African contemporary flair, it's very, very cool! He does excellent work, and sometimes I have to go to other dentists to afford some of my crowns, etc. But, if you do great work, show it off, be creative!
