Hey guys, I'm making 40" civic numbers from aluminum face LusterBoard to mount on a brick surface. I'm using 4" Studs on a 3" Pad from Gemini. The studs are 3/16". Right now it looks like each number will take 3 studs to mount it in the brick wall. I'm planning on using PL200 Construction Adhesive on each stud. I'm wondering, is it best to use a 3/16 drill bit for the holes or should I make them a little bigger for the adhesive?

Your rotary hammer will probably make them a little oversize anyway, bring a 1/4" drill with because sometimes the drill will follow a weak spot in the brick or mortar and you would have to make that hole oversize to get your orientation back. Don't forget an air can to clean the holes.

Another thought, with characters that large, you can't see the stud holes around the strokes. It might help to pounce in a couple sharp corners at opposite ends of each character with your stud pattern.

Curtis you might want to consider PL Premium.. the job you are doing sounds like a job I did last summer, I used the 3" pads also.. worked out great.

Mr. Pickett, that would make things easier. However, the client wants a natural 3-D look about an inch off the wall to cast a shadow.
