I put another thread together that talked about the benefits of X5 color management. In addition to that, I wanted to make some suggestions on how to set the color management up for digital printing. Ideally these should be done before you start working with any files from X5...these settings can be changed later though, it's just easier to do them at the beginning.

FWIW, I'm assuming your digital printer prefers RGB information to CMYK.

1. Go to Tools>Color Management>Default Settings
2. From the RGB profile dropdown list, select Adobe 1998
3. From the Grayscale dropdown, select dot gain 2.2
4. If you have a CMYK profile specific for your printer, inkset and paper, select it by using the Load profile selection in the drop down list.
4. From the Primary Color mode dropdown, select RGB

HTH,
T.

Tony,

I just wanted to say thank you for participating here. Color management has been something of a bugaboo for me. I'm really looking forward to working in Corel X5.

My pleasure...the first few weeks after we release I'm usually given some time to patrol and see how things are shaping up and to find out what people like/dislike....I jump in where I can to try and help out.

I like the trial so far.

I really like the color management and the other goodies.

But will there be a time when the dfx export is suitable for cnc work. For example. Importing a corel exported dfx into cnc software the circles are not circles. They are octagons or hexagons or whatever.
thanks.

I use Corel to build CNC files all the time. I have Aspire which is great software but I am just so much more familiar with Corel for the simple vector stuff. I export out of Corel as an EPS file and import that into aspire to add 3D and tool paths.

I too would like to thank you for your help. Color management is my worse fear when it comes to wide format printing. I just wish I could buy just the fonts from previous levels. Didn't know that they changed every level until I had bought 3 different levels. Oh well.
