I really like X5, however it crashes each time I go to Tools>customization. The options dialog box opens for about 1 second and the bang the whole program closes.

When you start CorelDRAW, hold down the F8 key...keep holding until another dialog comes up and then click "yes"..CorelDRAW should then start with a new workspace....try the options dialog and see if it still crashes.
Which O/S are you running on? In the details section of the crash, what module does it say the crash occurs in? T.

It still does it. Where would i find the details. Maybe I am using the wrong terminology... "crash" I do not get any error message. The program just immediately closes.

Dissappearing is definately a crash...usually there is a dialog that pops up from windows that will tell what went wrong though.
Do you have any developer tools running your machine that could siff that error out?
If you reboot the machine in safe mode does it still crash?

"This solution is pretty old but try this: Use msconfig to disable the nvidia program software from loading at startup (not the drivers). I hope that is the problem but it boggles the mind if it is. This used to happen all the time with nvidia software back a few years."
Try that out and let me know if it fixes the issue. Thanks! T.

I've downloaded the trial from Corel Friday. I've been testing it on two separate systems. One of them has a nVidia card.

I also downloaded the trial on Friday... Did all the usual stuff I do to customise the workspace..no problems.
Imported some stuff that I was workin on with X3..no probs with that either.
I like some of the changes, some changes I don't see the need for..
Overall, I think that version X5 is a very slight improvement over version X3
Updated import/export features are worthwhile though.

For digital printers I'm sure the color management is worth the investment alone....now that we support RGB for vectors and bitmaps colors will come out a lot more vibrant from X5 then they did from previous versions of DRAW.
Work with that document color palette for a while you're going to fall in love. That was the blank palette that was floating when you started the app...if you closed it, try opening it (Windows>Palette>Document Palette)and dragging some objects into it...the colors from the outlines, fills and bitmaps will be added to the palette and those colors will follow the drawing...it's pretty wild...you can also use the eyedropper on the palette itself to add specific colors to the palette.
