Todd, David and I use it daily. We deleted long distance from our business phone and use Skype and our cell for all long distance...quite a savings. We use it for our Canadian and United Kingdom calls also. Can't answer the latter question but we are firm believers in Skype.

I hate Skype. I didn't like the way it tried to take over my computer by formatting phone numbers as skype links. Very annoying. It's not allowed on my computer anymore.
My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone. Posts: 3129 | From: Tooele, UT | Registered: Mar 2005

I've been using skype for about two years now,...My son in the Air Force turned me on to it while he was overseas,..we video conference each other and I get to see my grandson,...now that he is stationed in vegas it still lets us get glimpses of the grand baby growing and learning to walk,....things we wouldn't be able to see otherwise,...haven't had any problems as of yet to speak of here,...be careful on the install and make sure ya don't let it preload when windows boots and you'll be fine,....

I speak with my friend Gary where we have known each other since we were six years old, he still lives in Thailand and we speak and see each other through Skype sometimes 3-4 times a week and we can even call each others land line through Skype at 2-3 cents a minute.
I love Skype more than Utah

I use GoogleTalk, and like it. It does the same thing as far as I can tell, and it doesn't try to change my working environment. I absolutely hate software that oversteps its bounds and gives me a mountain of unsolicited features. I used to use Skype when it was small and did what it was supposed to do. Then it upgraded, and every phone number on my computer turned into a Skype link. I tried to cut and paste a phone number into an email once, and that Skype link was in the way. I ended up typing it in by hand...once. Then Skype was deleted forever, and it won't be coming back. There are so many other alternatives. I don't need it.

I've been using Skype as a means to call telephones from wherever we are for about 2 cents a minute, for about 5 or 6 years now.
David Fisher from Australia turned me onto it and I've never had a problem with it.
Don't use it for video conferencing, don't use it for computer to computer stuff...Just "Skype Out" to telephones or cell phones.
Works great for our purposes.

Well, something about the Skype I downloaded is screwed up..... It works, but it won't fully close down... the only way I can get it to completely close is to close it in task Manager.
I'm thinking this is going to be gone as well. Maybe it's not liking Windows 7 64 bit? Don't know, but am not willing to spend the time messing with it.

From what I can tell from getting on their forum, it's a glitch in their program that other 64 bit Wind 7 users are experiencing.
So, I guess I won't give up on Skype, but will wait till they get a few more versions which correct the problem.
I am using the Logitech/Sightspeed (also provided by Dell as Dell Video Chat) and the video quality, for whatever reason is easily 3 times clearer in Skype than Sightspeed. I tested both using the same friend and broad-band providers between the two of us.
We'll see how it goes.... the only other thing about Skype is they don't allow you (best I can tell) to create a 'video email.'
