Just got an email from Marilyn Self saying that the gathering this year in Oklahoma City is going to be the last one.
If you've never experienced a Letterhead meeting, this is the granddaddy of them all. Just like the old days.
It was not in my plans to go because of financial reasons but considering this is going to be the last one, I'll scrape the nickels together someway and make the trip.
Hope to see a bunch of old friends and some new ones as well.
Let's give Fred and Marilyn a great send off and appreciation for all these years.

I'm in, was anyway...listen, at risk of Fred or Marilyn reading in, how about we all put our heads together and come up w/something really nice as a thank you for the years and a final goodbye for them? Be it gift or project, my vote is for a gift...what say?????
(ps-I checked IM list before speaking to make sure either of them weren't online here)

Bump. Looking forward to Fred's this weekend. If you've ever wanted to make it to a real old fashioned Letterheads meet don't miss this one. This is will be Fred's last meet. I'm sure Marilyn will allow a few last minute attendees.

We too have been to a couple of Fred's, the old place and the new. Great memories. Sad to hear it's his last. Hope you guys take a moment out to think good thoughts of our bud, Monty. He was always an important part of most of those meets. Have fun and report in.

This year's gathering at Fred's was a little more somber than usual, since it was the last one.
The numbers were down dramatically because of the economy - only about 40, as compared to the usual 80 to 100 that normally gather. There were a lot of new faces and the usual suspects from years past.
Even the pin stripers kept the music down and most of the time was spent just visiting and trying to absorb the atmosphere of Fred's one more time.
Fred had a lot of new pieces to display and we all left a few more "thank you" panels for him to tack on the wall.
We missed a lot of you old timers that normally gather at Fred's but that just gave us more folks to talk about without having you present.
I took a few photos and will get Barb to post them - as soon as I can get them to her. Others took photos and hopefully they will share them here also. Magoo took a group shot and Ray Skaines did a lot of video work, so the event will be preserved for generations to follow.
It was a sad Sunday when we drove away, knowing that a long saga had come to an end.

Although a smaller crowd at Fred's than usual this year, it made for the opportunity to chat with others I've seen in past Sasekalahewata (Ses-schoolie-wet-tah) meets but never got to know. Thanks Jason, Lendell, Sluggo, Mr. Bill, Bob, Dick, Teresa, William, Terry, Chris, and Sal (thanks for the awesome panel).
Great to see my local friends Travis and Juan.
Susan Banasky, it was a pleasure to meet you. I believe you traveled the most miles to come to Fred's.
Mark Yearwood, Bob and Dominque, always a pleasure to see you guys.
Robert Beverly, you are one talented and gifted individual.
Fred and Marilyn, you are two of the most wonderful people in the world. I love you both dearly. Thank you for all you've done for us Letter and Pin 'Heads'.
I'm sure people here at Letterville can relate to this, but I still can't believe I get to be in the presence and rub elbows with the great Raymond Chapman. What an honor. (I wish Mike could have made it to Fred's)
Thanks to all, R
ps: Bob, I promise to get a small video of Fred's meet to Letterville as soon as possible.
