Hi All,
I'm estimating this job and thinking about $1700.00 for painting this plus any rental needed. The ground comes directly up to the lower portion.
The yellow rectangle is for scale which is 6'x 31.5'.
Any help is appreciated!

How long is a piece of string?

Give me an idea of what you are painting ... pictures/layout area etc.

Sorry about that. The blue letters and red lines are what I'm estimating.

The dangle with the angle haunts me. How are you going to do "INTERIORS" with it not shrinking in perspective? Maybe stack Interiors under Advanced? What issues are there beneath the mansard? Can't tell if there is some lower area right behind that dark gray retaining wall at the bottom. Stucco? Maybe use SW metal latex on it, if you want it to last, but triple coat the fading red. Need to work on the design some more as it looks kinda Plain Jane.

I would lay it out a bit differently, but would figure $1500-2000 for the work and another $500 for a man lift? I would also get a current picture of it, as I do not recall the grass is quite that green in Oregon this time of the year?

My preference would be to do it on Dibond or Omega bond and bolt it on. You could use vinyl or lettering enamel and get a much tighter sign, even if the background is to match the color of the stucco? Add a grand for Dibond. Actually, I would simply redesign it and sub it out to a reputable quick sign place and have my erector put it up and make a grand without doing much more than the design. It is not that it is some major trophy piece for your portfolio. All they want is tight work and simple. Some schmoe will probably do it for $700 and it will look like it, unless they are commited to a look. This one takes salesmanship and a better design, IMHO.

After I posted, I went to your site, Bruce. You do some very handsome and professional looking work. Bravo! Spice up the design with your flair and make some mulah on this wall.

Preston thanks for responding. That is his logo "ADVANCED INTERIORS" and he has no interest in changing it. This is a rough concept. The word "INTERIORS" is not supposed to be distorted I'm not sure what happened there. The ground comes right up flush to below the mansard. Yes there is an area below which does not interfere or extend past the wall to be painted. I believe the wall is cement.
I would like to paint this because I want to develope that part of my business, I am comfortable with a brush, and my clients see me as an artist already. I have only painted signage on a wall twice, once was the first day I was introduced to the sign business and the second was a trade.
Also, I want to do as much work as I can in house to keep as much money in house as possible.
As far as the layout it needs to relate to his logo, he wants it all large, and it is his idea. Like you said it is not a trophy piece I agree but I am happy to have the opportunity and the income. And I appreciate your compliment on my work.

Bruce

Bruce,

Just do your best to figure time and materials then make sure your hourly rate is up to snuff and bid it that way.

Pad it about 10-20% for "gotchas" and you should be good to go.

As far as Preston's comments go, I agree - but if you can't change the logo can you switch the copy?

The logo would look great on the front-facing surface, and fit perfectly. Could be bigger (and you could charge more for it).

The angled wall could contain the rest of the copy, which could also be punched up.

Which side does traffic usually approach from?

Thanks Mark,
Looking at the picture traffic comes from all three sides. An off ramp comes to a light almost across from it and the closest traffic comes from the right.

Bruce,

Sure! So then how about:

[A]dvanced Interiors
--------------------
Carpet - Vinyl - Tile - Stone - Hardwood

On the front face, and

[A]dvanced Interiors
--------------------
Carpet / Vinyl
Tile / Stone
Hardwood

On the angled face?

Sell the customer on the three approaches to traffic, and essentially 2 signs?

Sounds like a cool job.

Thanks Mark, I will try and sell him again his logo on the lower wall and the products following the roof line.
This is not an easy client and it's a call from something I started with him last spring. Still I will go for it.

I like it! That angle is a difficult part to navigate... I don't envy you on that one. ;-)
