Nice! I like the top one the best. The rough texture seems to go better with the grain image. I think the bottom one looks a bit too formal when combined with the grain graphic.

I prefer the design of the top one, but I'm not fond of the textured inner panel, I like the gold lettering against the smooth panel in the second. I guess overall I like the second panel better, but only because I do not like the woodgrain center panel on the top one. I'm not sure that helped you any.

The bottom one is much better. The top one looks like a mismatch of elements.

I like the simplicity of the 1st but the wood grain overpowers a bit and the corners of that panel direct my eye away from the copy. Nice color and interesting texture on the 1st panel. The 2nd image both panels overpower the copy and the copy gets lost even more because of the color and value in the 2nd panel. No offense intended Peri, I think the wheat and color direction overall is nice. What kind of business is this?

Good work, but I feel both panels overpower the message & wheat, rather than complementing them. I prefer the second panel, but would rather see more harmony of shape.

The second design has more structure which compliments your script. The more contrast there is between organic and geometric shapes, the more dramatic your script will appear. The less distraction the better.

Hi Peri, here is my two cents. Firts, I want to say that both designs are very good and classy.
We really don't know enough about your client to be effective in our judgement call. Is it for a chain of stores or is it going to be a "1" of.
If it's a chain of many or more to come store location, a simple design that would fit different store-fronts have to be considered. In that case, maybe a third design might be necessary depending on the outcome of that brain storming.
How many times have we seen rather nice signs clash with the building it's on just because they don't match. Or a business that had a nice sign, and move to a new location where they bring the sign and install it even if it doesn't fit the new venue.
If it's a 'one of' location, what are the architectural elements that would help the sign work with its surrounding. The second design has nice scrolls... do they complement the proposed site?
I'm sure both of these designs would work great on specific buildings, I just find inappropriate to make the call without all the data. The sign has to stand out: the old "red jelly bean" in a jar of "green jelly bean" theory.
Your designs are awesome Peri, look at the surroundings and I'm sure you will be able to make that call.....

The second one is the winner, go with it. Bill
