We got about 4 and 1/2 inches here overnite too. The whole town's shut down....bank, drug store, city hall, schools, etc....amazing.
It's melting now already. It'll freeze overnite, and be gone tomorrow.
After all the years of living in Ohio, I do still love the beauty of snow; but hate when it lays around for days or weeks and gets dirty and yucky. I like it here; you can enjoy it for a day or so, then kiss it good-bye.

Hahaha... Wayne. I was just posting a new thread when I saw this.... my heading was "WTH - Florida Is No Longer Safe" and my first sentence was..... "We're moving to the islands..."
Dale, they cancelled all the school here 2 days ago already, when they just mentioned the word 'snow' on the news.... everything is pretty much closed down today... including my bank.
It was all fun and games in the beginning..... but I gotta warn ya....
The truck, this morning.....
WTH.... how do those Yankees survive? My hands are cold already....
Posing by the snow drift on the truck....
The wife, posing by the snow drift on the truck...
Wow.... this is fun. I catch a picture of a snowball in the air, thrown by my wife, Monica. Notice how her aim is quite a bit off...
She wants to see if she can capture the same type of picture.... (you probably know where this is going...) She does! Notice my snowball is lined up considerably better....
Boy, it is gonna be cold sleeping in that doghouse tonight!!!

The Yankees and Canucks are probably laughing at us, but hey, we're not accustomed to this stuff. Here's my house 5 minutes ago and it's still coming down hard:
And here's the infamous red door (still has the Christmas wreath on it for redneck effect)
Gotta admit, it's pretty, but I'm not looking forward to driving to the airport to pick up my daughter tonight......

Graham... we Southerners are crazy. We'll drive 70mph in a toad-stranglin' gully-washer, but let a few snowflakes start falling and everyone goes nuts.

We had our biggest snowfall in 32 years yesterday. It snowed about twenty hours, giving us up to a foot in some areas (very wimpy by northern standards).
It was so beautiful, I had a hard time going to bed last night. I decided to check out my new waterproof lightweight hiking boots by walking a half mile to the park about 2 AM, where I took this picture.
When I got back from there, my next door neighbor almost called the police on me since he thought he was the only one out enjoying the scenery.
This afternoon, my granddaughter and I built "Snowhenge" but her brother jumped out of the Tahoe in the top of the picture and played Godzilla on it before we finished.
Today, a bunch of us got together for lunch at IHOP and solved most of the world's problems. We'd have had them all wrapped up but the waitress quit bringing us coffee.
One friend showed us photos of the "Pillsbury Snowboy" he and his kids built in their front yard, about eight feet tall and a much truer representation than Snowhenge. He said people had been stopping all morning to get pictures by the Snowboy.
It'll all be a slushy memory tomorrow.

My stepdad and I drove up to my son's place just 4 miles over the Alabama state line. It snowed all the way up and we saw lots of yards covered in white. But on the trip home, when we were about 10 miles below the state line, it had stopped and the further South we got, most of the snow had melted. None was left in our yard. This is my son's yard.

Whichever car has the best set of snow tires on, will be the 2010 winner of the Daytona 500. Forget the Goodyear Eagles....those will slide, spin out, lose control in the corners, and generally be the worst choice when the green flag drops. Place your bets on the driver with the Blizzak Radial snow compound tires.

Montgomery closed down. I stayed in. The snow is pretty from the inside looking out. Aint no call to be out there building snow structures or shoving family pets out there taking pictures.
I think the most memorable part of me losing it was on the news that morning the mayor announced there would be a "Snow Support Line" set up for residents to call in...I swear to you Im not lying. It was called a blizzard, a snow storm dear god Im surprised more people did not die
After going to Wisconsin for christmas the past few years what we had down here was nothing. While we are freaking out and taking all bottled water and peanut butter and bread, people up north are driving their kids to daycare LOL

Just the opposite here in NH where it's usually knee deep by now. We're looking at grass on the ground, not snow.
Down side is that it's clobbering the snowmobile businesses. Trails are closed, club memberships are WAY down and parts/repair shops are struggling to stay open. The ski areas can make snow, but the draw is less without the natural stuff.
This may go down as the winter that wasn't...

2009 - 2010 winter has been a record year with the most snow fall on record for this area. We have had 3 blizzards this winter with 2 of those in Feb. And get this, another storm coming on Monday. Smallest accummulation was 18" 4 days before Christmas. Snow drifts of 5 - 6' due to winds in excess of 40 MPH. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Talk about cabin fever, I was looking forward to getting junk mail today to read.
I am heading south next year!

This Global warming is something else! Here in Michigan, we are at about average snowfall for this winter. So can't complain....just wish since you Southerners....and Easterners are going to get the snow, that we could get some sunshine!

The funny part is that so far it has been one of the least amount of snow on records for us!!!
I heard on the news that 49 of 50 states got snow so far this year, Doug Allan might be the only one spared yet....
Don't get me wrong, we're still in winter and the cold weather is here and we DO have snow on the ground but we're 3 or 4 feet behind what the "normal" amount of it should be for this time of year.
Hey... not complaining here! you can have it all next year too if it gets you all excited!!!
