This link shows how the movie Avatar was made. It is mind boggling. Dan probably thinks along these lines.

Scroll to the bottom and click on the video.

Pretty impressive for sure. Reminds me of how I felt at the first Star Wars movie, just blown away with the reality achieved.

I noticed that, too. Building something on one of those sets would have been very interesting.

Two years in the making. Wonder what Cameron will come up for the next film. Wouldn't it be interesting to see inside his head?

......haha

yep....the glasses were uncomfortable, but the effects in 3D were awesome. Several times I found myself reaching out to keep something from hitting me. We arrived late so we had to sit in the second row....yikes!

The part where he walked out on the limb and looked over.....I could hear a gasp from the whole audience. Also when they were flying the dragons.....that got my heart pounding.

I want to see it again in 3D....I know missed a lot of it from closing my eyes...hahaha

What a woose I am sometimes. [Smile]

Avatar is an AWESOME movie. We sat it in 3D... twice. It was good enough to go a third time.

Saw it in 3D and was glad that they didn't do the usual gimmicky tricks like throwing something out over the audience or trying to make you sick from the quick movements.

Amazing colors, great CGI that has reached a believable level. Looks like the future of movies has arrived.

Sign-cerely stunned, Steve

I also enjoyed Avatar, even though fantasy films are not my thing. However we are very proud that most of the movie was "created" right here in NZ at Weta Workshops. I remember seeing a doco about the computer power required for the film. Peter Jackson used 1 bank of super computers to make the Lord of the Ring trilogy. He then made King Kong using 3 super computers but for Avatar I think it was something like 32! Now for the Letterheads connection. Dean (Elvis) Johnstone has worked at Weta Workshop on previous Peter Jackson movies.

Unfortunately, Mr. David is "Wright."

Wanna see inside Cameron's head??? Read Edgar Rice Burroughs Carson of Venus and John Carter, Warlord of Mars. Cameron himself said this was where the idea came from. He also wanted this to be an "anti-corporate" film, slamming big, bad evil business practices--practices, by the way, that made his film a success.

Odd that he is so against big business, and admitted it on "The View."

still, I like the film, but the 3-d left me with a 2 day headache.

After seeing this thread pop up again, I went and saw Avatar again this afternoon. No headaches from the 3D...either time.

I can't get Jeanne to go with me. She says she not going to spend hard earned money to see blue people.

Raymond,

I envy you! dangit!!! Some people just can't watch a 3d movie or play 3d first shooter video games.

The latter doesn't bother me. The 3d movie, though??? Sadly, I don't think I'll ever be able to watch another one. My brain just ain't wired to put it together. When the images are cut off by the sides and tops of the movie screen, I can't handle how weird that looks in 3d and it becomes quite painful. i kept taking the glasses off for a break.

Just me. And many others.

Oh ... and my wife didn't look like Roy Orbison ... she looked like Lady Gaga.

Well, I must confess, I have seen Avatar four times and will go at least once more before it leaves the local theater. I really like the way the Na'vi interact with their environment and of course the special effects and 3D are over the top. I should have applied for a job at Lucasfilm thirty years ago like I wanted to....

I have always been a late bloomer, I just went and saw this movie last night with my son. We were both blown away. We saw it in 3-d and I have to say this is the first movie both my son and I have seen in 3-d that we both didn't have a headache. Not to mention seriously the BEST movie I have seen in so long I can't remember any better.

We truly felt like we were there in that world. Truly amazing. We can't wait to see it AGAIN.
