90 years old and finally died in her sleep in a nursing home in New Zealand.
I was lucky enought to spend a day with her back in November. Took her out to lunch. Value time because she was so frail I knew it was our last time together.
The best mum anybody could ever have. She raised us 3 brothers after my dad ran away. I was the oldest at 12. She taught us everything. No social welfare in those days!
Here she is:

Wow, Jon. Your dad must've been cracked. She looks like a movie star in that picture.
I'm very sorry, and will be thinking about you the next few days. I'm glad you got to spend time with her recently. Treasure all the good memories you have and don't let them fade away....
My condolences to you and your family....

I'm sorry to hear that Jon. You would think that a ninety year life is a blessing, but when it comes to your Mother, it's still not enough. My Mum, Alice, died in 1969, I still think about her and miss her. What was your Mum's name?

Sorry to hear of your loss Jon, It is never a good time for a loss, even more so around the holidays. I lost a great friend just before Christmas, she was also 90, people from that era are a treat, so much greatness to learn from them. They were certainly made from a different mold.
On the flip side, she is no longer chained by her failing body.
May you find comfort in all the memories of your mother during the days to come.

All the clothes they wash, diapers changed, the food they prepared, and the selfless devotion in teaching us how to behave is priceless. Not to the affections, and doing without, can never be repaid.
My heart goes with you.
