What makes a nice royal blue without going purple. I found a "recipe" for C- 100, M-73, Y-0, K-0 but it seems too drab. I tried C-100, M-75, Y-10, K-10 and it looks good on my monitor but I'm not sure how it will come back from the printers. Will it end up being drab as well with the addition of yellow and black?
I have learned to use "Rich Black" c-60, m-60, y-60, k-100 in order to get good blacks. Is there any noticible difference between it and c-100, m-100, y-100, k-100?

Is that a book or a colour fan? In the meanwhile I'd like to get this order sent away, so if someone print savvy can help I'd appreciate it.

Kelly, I thought that if you tried c 100, m100, y100 K100,(add them up & you get 400) you'd end up with a big messy puddle. I could be wrong, though.

if you use the same printer & plan to keep using the same printer... ask if they print themselves any CMYK charts.. I agree with Glenn about getting the the pantone spot to process fan deck...
..but, your printer & the profiles he uses will remain consistent as long as he doesn't change anything... so if he prints you a few charts on the most common media & profile combinations... you will have EXACT swatches on his banner, orajet, Controltac, or whatever, printed with HIS chosen profiles, on HIS printer... where every CMYK combination (with 10% increments)is labeled on the actual swatch chart... a pantone book is a good start, but getting those charts will be even more valuable

and 100,100,100,100 is a nice looking black, but it's a lot of ink, & that can present it's own problems if not cured enough & if bleeding off a cut... the edges may tend to curl from a shrinkage resulting from the ink curing process.

Kelly, ask the "printer" what program he is using to RIP. I find going from Adobe to Flexi changes the CMYK mix. Flexi tends to have a lot of Magenta in an Adobe blue. I can get tricky. The printer might need to take your design and switch just the blue to the one in his print program pallet.

Thanks for all your help. The project I'm working on is an entire package that includes vehicle graphics (truck & trailer), brochures, business cards, product decals, trade show banner, web banner etc. I'm going to be using a number of different suppliers, so I don't want to have to be constantly changing the colour formulas. From what I can gather from most of the supplier information, Karyn's blue should work. I'm also going to stick with the 60-60-60-100 black that I am familiar with.
