I want to use my Graphtec FC700-75 to do some contour cutting of prints that also has some small letters to cut. The Versacamm is not that great with small cuts and sorta chews them up.

However, I have never done this and have no clue what to do. Tried looking at the book for the Graphtec and Cutting Master software and I'm lost.

If anyone is printing from CorelDraw and contour cutting on a Graphtec FC7000, please give me your phone number so I can see if this cna be done.

Thanks.

Amy, I'm a Illy user but I'd think that the CuttingMaster plug in works pretty much the sam way in Corel.
First, put your cut shape on a separate layer in Corel. Go to your menu Cutting Master>Registration marks and it should put 4 corner marks on a separate locked layer.
Before you save your file, turn off the cut layer so it doesn't print.
Print your file. Load the vinyl in you plotter and line up the cutting head in the closest corner mark.
Open your file in Corel, turn off all layers but the registration and the cut layer. Go to Cutting Master>cut/plot. Go to the Advanced tab and select how many etc. and send the file.

Hi Bill,

That is what I have tried time and time again. I get a "Mark Scan Error" everytime. I didn't know if I was missing some type of setup on the plotter or what.

Oh well, don't have time to mess with it anymore. Another day! I appreciate the info.

Well, just a couple of things. First, it's imperative that your registration marks are square to the plotter and that your pinch wheels are outside the registration marks.
Than your knife should be moved to the "inside" of the corner closest to the normal knife position.

Are you getting the error from the first corner where you set the knife or when it searches for the second registration?

make sure you use Graphtec automatic 2 reg marks... I just had fits with that also.. Graphtec had me go to their site and download Cutting Master2 v1.6 and it took care of the "mark Scan Error" .. let me know it that fixes it .. if not I'm sure I can probably help as I just did this last week..

Hmmm, it's been a very very long time. But I'll try to remember. In Corel, you can make multiple layers. Place your "Contour Cut" lines in a separate layer with guide lines. Print the digital section with the same guide lines all on one layer. Make sure your Contour layer is "Off", both print and view. Then put the print into the Graphtec. Use a three point registration on your Graphtec screen using the "red light" to point out your printed guide lines. Once this is entered into the Graphtec, you go to the Corel file and turn off the Print layer. Import the contour layer to your cut program and plot it. The blade will follow your guide lines and cut around the prints.

I too am an Illy guy, but I did this years ago with CorelDRAW. I might be missing some info, but it worked really well.
