Ken Henry asked me to post this for him....

 -
quote:
I selected the word "embrace" since it has 2 meanings, both of which I feel relate to Compassion. Firstly there is the physical gesture, most commonly known as a hug. That action is most often used to convey affection, support, friendship, or condolance. It is seldom used with malace or aggression. Secondly, it has a philosophical meaning that indicates the wholehearted adoption of a belief, course of action, cause, or lifestyle.

ABOUT THE DESIGN.

The word has been rendered in colours that Native North Americans regard as being sacred, since they are the colours of the races of mankind. The background has a neutral greyscale value so that all of the colours have sufficient contrast to be equally visible. The arrangement of the words, and the distribution of the colours are deliberate, so that all embrace an area of commonality, and each colour is adjacent to each of the others. None are greater than or lesser than each other. .

Ken Henry

Frank, yes, faith is all yours! Welcome aboard!

Ken, your piece is wonderful. I love how your words wrap around to create a visual embrace - this is really well thought out. Thank you!

Hi Nancy, I just invited myself in.... the door was opened !

The word that came to my mind was 'passion'... then I got thinking and a few more popped out. Well, so many words and one image to create. So when my headhache went away, I was left with this.

Hi Kelly, your Patience, soft and calm - as it should be. Love it.

Hey Rene, what a nice surprise to see this project! Thank you for your 'word(s)'. This could also be a wonderful motto for Letterheads! Nicely done!

I was brainstorming my design on Sunday afternoon when I got a text message from my daughter Jessica, who was in Golden Gate Park for the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock Concert. Rick Sacks had told me they were going to try and break the record for most guitarists playing a song simultaneously - "Purple Haze" with 40,000 lead guitar players. I wish I could've been there (especially since that's the only song I know) but I got a vicarious thrill when I read her text: "Holy Cow, Jefferson Airplane just came onstage".

At that point, I put Surrealistic Pillow on the jukebox and my design suddenly took a definite 60's turn. With a tip of the hat to R. Crumb, Bill Graham, Electric Kool-Aid and Haight-Ashbury, here's Mr. Natural with my word to the world:

 -

And yes, the size corresponds to a golden rectangle...... (see Tony Vickio's post from a few weeks ago)

Hi Nancy and Friends at Letterville,

I know this will come in under Sonny's name, but I was wondering if I could get on board with an addition to your project. I have a piece I would like to submit that is near and dear to me. My word is 'bridge' if all is ok for me to join in.
Peggy Franks

p.s. Thanks for all the prayers and positve thoughts - it's working!!!!!!!

I would like to add the word "NAMASTE"

It has many meanings in different languages...I prefer these:

"I honor the Spirit in you which is also in me."

"I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells, I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Integrity, of Wisdom and of Peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One."

"I salute the God within you."

"Your spirit and my spirit are ONE."

"That which is of the Divine in me greets that which is of the Divine in you."

"The Divinity within me perceives and adores the Divinity within you."

"All that is best and highest in me greets/salutes all that is best and highest in you."

"I greet the God within.

How appropriate to this issue.

Love and Light to all.....

Jackson

This is a picture of our daughter, Jessica, who became totally enthralled with this fisherman while we were walking on the beach. The two of them had a sort of unspoken communication. This picture, always a favorite of ours, bridges age as well as race.

My "Grace" panel being held by my daughter- Grace.
This was done like so many projects these days...at the last minute. I had originally another plan...but...I had to punt. The panel was left over from another job, I found a font I like , tweaked it a little, added the clip art doves, also customized, then a fade. Printed this on my Edge and dropped some florentine signgold cut from a scrap, Result, project completed on time (barely) and one happy little girl.
I emailed the original pic file to you Nancy.
Thanks for a great idea.
