Here's Dave and Susie, along with team members Joe Broxterman and Jim Oskam in front of David's newest masterpiece. He continues to amaze us........

I would have know David did this just by the style of it. He might as well have signed it in big letters "The Butler did it".

You have to see this thing close up to really appreciate the detail involved. Coz was supposed to be on the team too, but there seemed to be some conflict between who got to be project leader....

That wall was across the street from David Butler's and Bill Hueg's murals. We'd have to cross the highway to view the murals. There are some great pictures of the mural teams lined up against that wall saluting (sun in our eyes) their murals as well. They had to block off the state highway Thursday night so we could project. About 1/2 block from where we were painting was one of the main US railways. Trains went by every few minutes and their horns were deafening. Between that and all the hog trucks going by 20 feet away it was quite the workout for the senses. That was more than compensated for by the company though and I think everyone had a wonderful time. Some teachers bought their classes down, they bought the senior home residences down in golf carts to watch and lots of the locals congregated by the wall in Sonny's picture to watch. It was great to be all in one area, although we worked hard enough that we didn't see too much of the two crews around the corner. David's mural was only a few feet from ours and it was fun watching Coz and Susie work with all the school kids who each had the opportunity to put a little paint on the Butler wall. 20 years from now they'll still remember that they had a small part in that mural. Kudos to the Butler team for their PR.

I hope that wasn't misleading or demeaning - A very nice guy from Belle Plaine named Evan stopped by and said his mother painted the Iowa Hawks logo on that wall 30 years ago. We were told that the wall was repainted regularly and was a sacrosanct icon for the town. Don't mess with their Hawks, heaven forbid. I just thought it was an interesting photo op.
If you've seen David Butler's designs, then I don't have to say anymore. If not, then a picture's worth a thousand words - here's the one they REALLY did:
