Many years ago a good friend of mine bought a BMW. He always had wanted one. I had recently made some significant purchases around that time too. His wife and Janis got together and bought a silly little trophy which they would present to one of us each month depending on who they felt deserved it. Somehow it seemed to always end up on my shelf most of the time.
Years later when we moved to Yarrow I dusted it off and presented it to my neighbor Gord after he bought a bunch of new things. Like me and my other friend of years ago it was a fun thing to do.
The purchases all seemed to follow a pattern. The recipient always easily justified their purchase. While to outsiders it seemed somewhat extravagant and perhaps even a little silly, the buyer never saw it that way. These things in their mind were desperately needed and useful too.
Today Donna came over to put some decals on Gord's new trailer (a purchase that had warranted Gord recieving the award a few months ago). Donna asked for a meeting to discuss placement of the decals since I had designed the logo and spec'd the stickers too. But instead of talking about the decals she whipped out her fancy, dancy new I-Phone and proceeded to talk about all the features. Donna even mentioned the price... and looked down mightily on both Gord and I because we had old technology strapped to our belt.
Gord and I looked at each other and nodded. It was time. He left the meeting to get the coveted award. And Donna became the first female to ever earn it... PIG OF THE MONTH!

She wouldn't have got that but she REALLY has to keep up with her kid. He'll be a teenager soon don'chaknow. Yeah...............that was not an extravagence that was a necessity.

Congratulations Donna. Dan and Gord, I see you spared no expense choosing a venue for the presentation. I kinda reminds me of the Pomp and Ceremony of the ISA Design Awards presentation.

So true Duncan. I mean, I hadn't even lettered the trailer yet. If I had any incling (sp?) that this was simply an offensive haphazard award with NO iPhone envy attached... yeah... Saved by a thread due to the iPhone envy. You know who you are.
(I said iPhone 3x in this post. Not to rub it in or anything)

Gotta split. Tons of work to do, but I'd like to say that award aside, Donna's face is an illustrators dream. Beautiful symmetry, dramatic planes and a mysterious aloof and aristocratic quality. Good photo.
