I am working on a small project for my own shop, and am building a reader board sign. I have some .030 letters and track left over from a previous job. I used 3M clear VHB to attach the track to the ploycarbonate for the customers job, but was looking for a cheaper alternative for my own sign, and future builds
I really don't want to use rivets or staples if I can avoid it, and VHB is just too expensive to buy right now.
So I am looking for alternatives to VHB whether it is a glue, or another type of tape. I have seen some 3M adhesive transfer tape, but have no experience with it.
Of course if you have a good supplier for the VHB tape, and would like to share that info, i would be very greatful also!
Thanks again!

Hi Brian, I use a glue from IPS Corporation called Weld ON #4 which bonds acrylic and letter track together. It is very strong and once joined, will actually "weld" itself together in minutes. You have to apply it with a small needle-like syringe on a plastic bottle. They usually sell it with the syringe bottle. Make sure you ask for it with the Weld On. It dries too fast to use a brush.
You just layout your track and tape it down in place with masking tape over the top. You will be able to run the needle under the track just enough to spread the liquid which you will see spreading out as you go along under the track. It doesn't look like you are putting enough down while you are going along, but it don't take much! It is like a watery super glue. It also stinks a little so make sure you are well ventilated where you are working. We have had great results and no failures with the bond.
Good Luck. It also goes a long way so you will have plenty of it for a long time! My can is still half full (pint can) and I've had it for a couple of years. Don't forget to put the lid back on when you are finished because it also evaporates fast too!
Sign-cerely, Steve

Hmm Never thought of using weld on. I have used it in the past to repair acrylic aquariums.
Thanks for the idea!
