My brother, O.T., has had two strokes. He was working in Savannah, GA and woke up at 3:30 AM with a terrible headache, double vision, and all the other things that go along with a stroke. He called his wife here in Albany because he knew that #1 on his cellphone was her number. She called an ambulance and they took him to St. Joseph/Candler Hospital which is a stroke center in Savannah. He had a major stroke in his cerebrum. They were giving him blood thinners to prevent strokes but he had another one 8 days later. It was a major stroke also. The doctors are amazed at how he came thru these strokes... he has no paralysis. He is weak on his left side and has lost peripheral vison in his left eye. He is having problems walking too. Now a blood specialist & kidney specialist have been called in. O.T. has a coagulation problem and blood clots from his liver are causing these strokes. They may have to put screens in the major veins going to the brain & heart to stop this. They will get a diagnosis tomorrow. I would appreciate your prayers for O.T. and his family. Please pray that he can come home soon, it's hard on his family since Savannah is 4 hours away. Thanks, Judy

WowJudy! You got my prayers! Your brother sounds like a real fighter. He definitely isn't done with his time here. Good for him. Keep us posted on his recovery and what they plan on doing for him. Good luck to you and your family in this time of extreme challenge.

Update on O.T.: Doctor put him on coumadin for now and is waiting for more blood test results. Once they get coumadin regulated, he will be transferred to a hospital in Albany. Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts.

Thanks for your thoughts & prayers. O.T. was released from the hospital in Savannah today. His wife decided that they would spend the night at the hotel(which is near the hospital)and see how he does overnight before driving home tomorrow. Savannah is 4 hours from Albany. The doctors are amazed that after two major strokes he wasn't drooling. He received immediate help which prevented more damage. They put O.T. on coumadin to stop the strokes. He was referred to a blood specialist in Albany to monitor his coumadin levels. He is weak and is having trouble focusing but I am sure that will improve over time. He doesn't need any rehab.
