Everything is 100% paint in my little shop. I considered going to vinyl once, but am glad I didn't. Although I'm not too big on the "pool rules" signs! I also do alot of airbrush and pinstriping on bikes. And lately have been getting a lot of trucks and vehicles. For a while it was pretty slow for the truck business. Happy painting.

Hey Tom K. sorry I've been busy again( Darn customers that want cool hand painted stuff) I'll be striping at the Wheels of Time car show in Macungie,Pa. Aug.28-30 stop by and say hi. I guess the best place to find where the next Jams are is right here on this site.
Pierre I agree "bring on the signs" I developed my own quick plug lettering style on those long pool rules and menu signs. Those signs are a paid learning process. Cheers and thanks to all for this great discussion. Maintain AJ

You mean there's other people trying to keep "hand painting" alive? I too waited to jump into this new technology called "vinyl", but as you all know, I have learned to embrace it.It is a double-edged sword. On one hand I've made a lot of money using the computer for both vinyl & electronixc artwork (CD's, DVD's, clip art, fonts, etc.)On the other side I truly believe that it can "steal you're artistic soul". I find that I am not truly happy when I'm not painting. I try(with my vehicle lettering) at least to add some paint to every job. It's real easy to slam this state of our profession, but I still have to earn a living. Now I look forward to the times when I can get together with my friends and paint for a couple of days. Thank God there's the USSC's Sign Show (I'll be giving a seminar on "Jersey Style Painting"& painting in their BullPen" in Ac, "Artie's Party", SEMA Show, & this year we're going to the Larry Watson & Gene Winfield" party In Oct. Sometimes I feel like this is what the "silent screen stars" must have felt like when "talkies" came out!

Gotta say... being a vinyl guy... I really enjoy seeing Neil's, George's, and other paint guys hand striping and lettering. It's just sooo cool and classic.

Thanks Todd, just this past weekend a New red Shadow that I striped won first place in her category, I guess that means I'm now an award winning Pin striper! lol

Hey y'all! Yeah I'm from the south. I came up in the world of computers and yet the first job working for a sign guy, well he never heard of one. I was around 15 then, but I never was one for paint until this past year. I have only had my own shop for 2.5 years and mostly vinyl and digital. I read everyone's post and searched video's for most of you; especially you Allan. You guys have inspired me to want to paint and I now love it and need it. I still use a mask for my painted signs (for customers) and I am trying to learn that darn sword for strips. I just want to thank all of you for the inspiration you give me. THANKS

Say what time is it right now? Oh, about 3am. I just got back inside bout an hour ago. I got done pinstriping a Freightliner, wit paint. Earlier in the day, I finished off a mural, wit paint. Got signs in the shop too. And 80% of them will be done wit paint.
