A furniture retailer has moved into an old supermarket building which has a 24' x 6' lighted cabinet on the roof and a two sided 10'x 6' cabinet by the highway. Of course he wants the faces replaced. He wants to know if he can put flat faces in the cabinets. I'm assuming acrylic or polycarbonate would be the only option. Wouldn't a flat face that large tend to blow out?
I have him a quote ready for the 4 pan-formed faces, but I'm sure he's going to have a coniption..... 2- 6x10's 2- 6x12's $5530.57 installed
I fell certain he will balk at the price. I just happened to have installed the existing faces, 8 years ago, for the previous business and the cost of those faces has gone up about 23%.
Is there a less expensive alternative? I just don't think flat faces will work. What do ya think?

Bear in mind that Pan faces are generally installed on cabinets with less than normal can depth. Reommended distance from the light scource to the face itself is generally 7", any closer you get severe shadowing.
Anything over 5' tall, as a rule should have flex faces.

That's a really good price, Wayne... you may be surprised, he may jump on it.. A few weeks ago, I quoted a customer (2) 6'x16' pan faces and my price was around $6,500 installed. However, that was using clear faces with several colors on the backside and then sprayed white...
I did consider a retro-fit flex face kit, but decided to just quote the pans...
It was also 30' up, so I figured an equipment charge equal to renting a machine, even though I have the equipment to do it.
The customer said he wants to do it, but wants to wait at least a year to be sure he stays in this shopping center, so in the meantime, I'm working him a price on a 'home-made flex face' sign with a large printed banner stretched on a frame that will fit inside the can...
