My son, Evan . . . my pride, my only . . . will turn 18 years old on Wednesday when we're in Pontiac. This is his third Walldog meet . . . first in Illinois.
He leaves for college around my birthday in August. What a sucky present that will be . . .
But for now, he's mine for the next four days. Please wish him Happy Birthday when you see him around with me, won't you? He's a fine young man . . . still wonderin' how that happened, considering . . .

I'm looking forward to seeing him in Pontiac with you Jay! As far as you wondering how he turned out so well, my guess is a large part of the credit should go to Jody for the supervision she's provided to both of you....hey, I'm jus' sayin'.....

I'll be sure to wish Evan a Happy Birthday when I see him in Pontiac.
As a birthday treat could you ask him for me if he wants to be on 'my team"? THAT would be a wonderful present... to be on a winning team - especially against his dad! !!!!!!!
I'll be waiting in Pontiac...

We will make sure to mention it during the day!
"Going away" is a tough day, but when they come back, you are sooo much smarter in their eyes. And when you do their laundry, make them a meal or buy them something, they say THANKS after having to do it by them selves for a while!
I got to thinking about this and where & when I celebrated MY kids 18th and it's kind of ironic...I celebrated Ben's 18th crying at the card shop looking at birthday cards in Bellvidere at your meet, because he was away for the summer at basic training. So count your blessings you can celebrate WITH your son!!
