HI folks, A question about longevity on carved sign's , I'm putting in for my first quote for 2 sign's for 2 different places. Ok I'd like to give a quote for both carved cedar and foam, but I do not know the longevity of a cedar sign, they will be painted with one shot paint as well and using reducer's and hardener,s and such,Glued with sumo glue. they will be app 4x8 signs. Oh and also what kind of warranty would you suggest for either cedar or foam. Thanks for your time. Graham

I'd only offer a one year's warrantee on any sign... but build quality into all signs so they last a LOT longer than that.
As far as which will last longer... I'd bet on a HDU sign any day. I have an 'old' cedar sign hanging in my shop which is a GREAT sales tool when I market my Precision Board signs. Although the sandblasted redwood sign was only up a year it is checked, delaminated and peeling. It faced due south when it was up and shows it too.
With the textures you can now do on CNC routers I'll never do wood signs anymore... and once painted properly there's few who can tell the difference.
My bet is that if you count in the gluing and prep time the HDU will be a LOT less expensive.
